Re: Colour Me Wednesday
Holiday From Your Life is absolutely brilliant. I am also quite fond of their Lemonheads cover.
I'm Emma. Insert Field Mice reference here.

Re: Colour Me Wednesday
fans of CMW's indiepop hits-in-waiting might be surprised to hear them in full skanking mode, but here they are in a slightly shy video from last year doing just that. and on a roof, like a ska Beatles. or U2. or Sham 69 [too obscure - Ed.]
don't they look great? and nice to see a bass player who can play bass.

wednesday is a nice day.

That's our gig! Was just coming here to advertise that - nice when someone else already takes care of it!
But yeah, everyone should come along on Friday. It's going to be awesome!

Re: Colour Me Wednesday
ok I've got this, this friend - he's heard quite a bit of the debut Colour Me Wednesday album but is wary of saying anything about it because he's got a track record of going on about how great they are and he's worried he might've just devalued his own currency on the whole matter.
possibly it's ok because, after all, the fact that you like a band's single(s) doesn't mean they'll work or sustain interest over the length of an album (we can all think of examples..), so I think you can still be objective about it, I hope?
so yeah anyway it's fecking brilliant. some of the best songwriting anywhere at the moment, a proper production (still DIY, literally home-made, but proper) that shows off one of the. great. lead vocalists of our time, and a range of styles and moods that compliment each other as a kind of Day In The Life of Everyone song-cycle. There are fully realised reggae-style tracks, which sound awesome; there are completely new songs which could be their best yet, particularly the beautiful closing title track which I think will surprise people. there are old songs recorded for the first time, and the songs you already know sound as great as you 'd expect.
all killer no filler, and there's at least enough tracks for an EP that didn't even make it on.
if it's not in everyone's album-of-the-year lists in a few months I'll eat my hats. including that one I found in the road in Shoreditch. I mean I washed it but still.

Re: Colour Me Wednesday
I'm really looking forward to this. Having seen them live about ten times and wandering over to their merch stall to only find tote bags and tee shirts for sale I'd almost imagined the music was merely a sideline to their bag/shirt industry, good as those products are (the Wednesday Addams tee shirt is fabulous).
