Re: yo la tengo
Is it wrong to prefer the album version?
I was wandering the royal mile last night listening to the new album. 15 minute outro!

Re: yo la tengo
i absolutely ADORE 'nothing to hide'. i haven't listened to the album fully yet, but that and 'the fireside' are coming up as two early favourites.

I think More Stars Than There Are In Heaven may be, right now, my favourite song in the entire world. Every time I listen to the LP I get more and more out of it. Can't wait to see 'em again in a few months time, no doubt replete with massive noise and trademark Kaplan guitar mangling on And The Glitter Is Gone.

I was wondering the same thing last night, and I decided it is not wrong, though the guitar is kind of amazingly rocky live.Gordon wrote:Is it wrong to prefer the album version?

Yeh, they played a secret set in the waiting room of the platform at Butterly at 4am last week - apparently they were disappointed with the attendance.Gordon wrote:Is it true, they're playing indietracks?

I've never been a real fan, simply because I hadn't searched their stuff out in the past. But I really like 'Popular Songs'. About half the album I absolutely love. They hit a little bit of everything: shoegazy, twee, straight-up rock(ish). Is that their usual style? Anyway, am enjoying it/them finally.

I might be interviewing them next month. Does anyone have any suggested questions for them? Other than which of them would win in an arm-wrestling contest, I've already got that question covered.

If I had my way they'd play indietracks... maybe I started that rumour!Gordon wrote:Is it true, they're playing indietracks?
I love Yo La Tengo and Popular Songs is my favourite of their LPs since "And nothing turned....", looking forward to hearing all the new stuff at the roundhouse and ATP later this year.
And yes ezears they've always had a very eclectic sound, which is one of the things I like about them. I recommend you check out 'I can hear the heart beating as one' which is their best album (and one of my favourite records of all time!), beautiful stuff.

Yo La Tengo is 'THE BAND'.

You don´t know what expect before a Yo La Tengo venue. They are really awesome.

Belated review of their Camden Roundhouse gig is in today's Morning Star - it's probably sold out by now though, as it's really popular. So here it is on my blog instead.

Re: yo la tengo
the first one has a fantastic opening track and 'hey mr tough' which is also pretty good. I don't remember anything else about it. I don't remember anything at all about the last one, other than I bought a vinyl copy at a Roundhouse gig and there wasn't a download code in it. I guess I have played it since, but I don't recall anything.

Re: yo la tengo
sorry for my slightly sarky post earlier. I wouldn't say they were bad albums, but I just never feel like listening to them. If I want YLT I'll go for Painful or ICHTHBAO or ATNTIO or Summer Sun or Fakebook or even Prisoners of Love. They were a bit disappointing last time I saw them as well (MBVATP). Aw, I'm making myself sad typing all this. I still <3 u, YLT.

Looking forward to another YLT album soon. It was recorded here (Chicago) and they're playing in Feb.!
