You could hardly have picked harder opponents to start against in Tom and Marianthi - they're both brilliant at it!
Scrabble games between me and Tom are like a tennis match between Rafael Nadal and my gran. He slugs a 140mph forehand at me with one hand behind his back while I wheeze my way to a six-point return (probably PUT or IF or something similar) that flops embarrassingly into the net.

Is this metaphor working for anyone?

Edit - no, because it's a similie. Bollocks.

Sorry Colin! If it's any consolation, your gran could probably beat me at tennis!

He keeps letting me take the lead near the start before racing back to a solid victory by the end. So he's Andy Murray and I'm Victor Troicki in this soon to be irrelevant analogy.
I seem to play my best words against random shit opponents anyway. You anorak bunch really are a smart lot.

This is, by some distance, the most tennis players I have ever been compared to in one day.

I just played a game on ISC and scored 3 bingos - PRODDING, ANTIBODY and EARLOBE, as well as making GENTILES, RIOJA and MEDIANS. My opponent didn't offer a single word of 'chat' other than "Hi GL", and then just let their clock run down to zero rather than resign or play to the end. Gah!

Hmmm, my last post makes me sound more like an arrogant, bragging twat than someone who is chuffed and excited with the game they've just played. I'm not an arrogant braggart, honest.

I've never thought of you as arrogant and bragging Murray!

The computer played 'Jarina' against me in scrabble on my iphone recently. I can't even find it on dictionary.com. I smell a rat.
anybody know?

Somewhere in the Word Freak book it mentions a word that is included because it was in one Shakespeare play, even though the dictionary acknowledges that it may have been a misprint.

I think you just have to embrace the madness of the Scrabble dictionary, really!

Any iPhoners want to splash out on Hexalex? It's like scrabble except on a hexagonal board and you're allowed to play two random two-letter combos a turn. It's weird but fun.

JAMMING got me 117 earlier in that game. Full credit to my random opponent for not quitting!

Final score: 768 - 195

Nice job! Sometimes I wish the quality of the random opponents was a bit better but then it does give me a far greater chance of winning than against the smarts of team Anorak!

Hey guys, I know this is a little redeundant but Words With Friends was just released for Android. Anyone want to try it, it's a little prettier than wordfeud, I think.
