Ace, cheers. Predictably all of those websites are blocked by my work, but I'll be sure to check them out later on.

I'm going to be in New York again from 23 - 26th October. Exciting! Any suggestions of fun stuff to do would be welcomed. (As would be offers of floors/sofas, which is maybe asking a bit much but by god, hotels are expensive there).

You gotta get that shit up on the upper UPPER west side, like around Columbia U. and Harlem. That's where the cheap places are. Hotels and hostels too. As long as you're near a subway line, you're good to go.

Is it oh my rockness (.com) that lists NYC gigs? Check the Cakeshop web site too.

i'd recommend queens. when we visited NYC exactly one year ago, that's where we stayed, and i so loved it there. queens is definitely my #1 wish place to live in the whole wide world.

i love hanging out in nyc. it helps that i have access to five affordable chinatown bus routes of varying quality for an six hour overnight trip. i'd love to move there but i definitely can't afford it at the moment.

it takes one minute to walk a street block. That was the best piece of advice I ever got.

I'm planning to go to NY in April but accommodation is a pain. Yeah, everything's really expensive but it's even more so when you travel alone. The world is definitely not made for solo travellers. Either I choose a dirty hostel or an overpriced hotel where I pay for a double room I don't need. I think that once I sort this out, I'll start enjoying the whole planning. Until then...

I'm finally going in February, in two weeks! I've read that Crystal Stilts are playing in Williamsburg on Sat 20th. Is anybody going?

that party sounds great! :) I'm only there for six days, leaving on Sunday evening, but it'd be great to make the most of my time there!

well, the Veronica Falls tour stops in NYC this weekend. they'll be playing at the Grasslands in Brooklyn with Crystal Stilts. On Sunday, they'll be playing at Bruar Falls with Frankie Rose and German Measles. ohmyrockness.com has other listings.

as for record stores, it depends on what you're looking for. i tend to stick to the following:
Other Music http://www.othermusic.com/
Academy Records http://www.academy-records.com/stores.php
Generation http://www.generationrecords.com/
