Just discovered St Rupertsberg and I bloody love them. It's girl-pop, but choral girl pop. With a brass section. Amazing. http://strupertsberg.bandcamp.com/
I'm Emma. Insert Field Mice reference here.

I bet everyone in the world knows about this band, and they've probably been number one for six months, but I've never heard them and they're lovely.

Reina Republicana - ST

Not exactly new, I know, but the album was released last month and has hardly been off my stereo.

Clondina, released as a 7", back in May, is my song of the year. It's brim full of fuzzy soaring melodies and utterly brilliant.

Tracks from the album can be streamed here:

I like this track by Bears. Got the album on the way - hope it's as good.

Not that there isn't enough ragged lo-fi garage around, but there's something specifically cocksure about this lot: http://soundcloud.com/heavy-petting-zoo/tracks

GIRLFRIENDS

i like the cut of their jib

http://girlfriendsband.bandcamp.com/track/brat-poison-2

pop! punk! odd stuff! that thing that gets called 'lo-fi' or 'angular' and even if that's inaccurate it probably gives you the gist! FUN!

http://girlfriendsband.bandcamp.com/tra ... machines-2

one of the singers sounds a bit like matt skiba, which might put you off, or not

http://girlfriendsband.bandcamp.com/track/boys-to-men-2

however smart it is, i like my punk to play dumb. maybe you do too. Girlfriends don't really play dumb, they just play it cool, and thass fine by me, dad.

what's that? sorry, yes. 'daddio'.

anyway.

DEAD GOOD.

I am enjoying the post-punky art-rocky stylings of C Is For Calculus, and not just because several of them are friends or ex-bandmates of mine.

Don't know if you ever heard Balor Knights, but it's Howard and Nick from them's new band (along with ex-Sweet Nothings drummer Rob and some other people).

The Tear Talk mini-album is getting countless repeat plays these past few weeks. It's simply incredible. You can stream a few tracks from Bandcamp and there's a track on Youtube.
