Someone told me that Eggplant were a joke band that one of the staff at the Rough Trade shop put together but I refuse to believe it. 'Can't Get Better Than This' is amazing.
There's a (massive) possibility... Sean Forbes was in Wat Tyler and Julie from Eggplant sings on a Wat Tyler song (and others too) called 'Fuck Pump' which turns up on the Eggplant 'Anorak Twat' compo as the song 'It'll Make You Want To Throw Up'... also Wat Tyler covered Mambo Taxi's 'Poems On The Underground' with a female vocalist which is exactly the same (identical) as the Eggplant song 'Still We Fall (Into The Same Trap)' (which is the song 'Poems On The Underground' just renamed)

I suspect rather than a joke it was Sean's opportunity to make some rollicking good indie pop

Only took me five years to reply, soz

Is it me, or is 16 Lovers Lane slightly diminished by the title being in Comic Sans?

Sometimes I play a game where I go to my last.fm profile and look at my top 8 artists for the last week and think to myself, if this were a random profile that I was stumbling upon, what would I think of a person with such tastes? Lately I just shake my head in bemusement.

Hey, sorry for the late reply, but yes, I have the new album. It's good, quite good, actually. Phife is only on a handful of songs, and of those, some seem like he just did some freestyles in the studio and then when he died they were like, "oh shit, gotta make an album out of this", and then built songs around them. Wikipedia even says that the album's title was incomprehensible to everyone but Phifer, but it was what he wanted to call the album, so when he died they just went with it - I think that's telling. That said though, it all works, and the album is very much worth listening to, and then listening to again.

Have you seen the music video for the one and only song off the album that you can find on youtube?

Oh, weird now there's a second music video on youtube... of the same song.

Cheers Yex, I heard it in passing on the radio the other day but I didn't really get a chance to listen to it properly. Of all the wailing and weeping and 'damn you 2016' fist shaking that's gone on this year, I think Phife's death probably made me do more of a double take than most (apart from perhaps Prince) - it's good to know he still had a decent record in him (which I will get round to listening to) but appalling that anyone should die that young.

Just got back from visiting a cemetery, then listening to every single indie pop song in my library (plus a Don McLean song) with "cemetery" or "grave" in the title.

I was listening to some of the bands that people had put on their Indietracks wishlists, ones I hadn't heard before, and I really liked Ivory Past. Initforthemoney mentioned them,

https://milesapartrecords.bandcamp.com/ ... -your-love

And I noticed that "Ivory Past" is the title of a Felt song,
