Nice work, sir. :-)

Similarly, I am in a position to confirm that Pelagic Trawl style themselves as "like Mumford, but with a bit more edge" and one of them owns a zither; Edible Flowers specialise in deafening grindcore and were regulars at the Broken Doll in Newcastle; and Fish, Chips, Peas and Gravy are perpetually billed as "local indie" in the Oldham Evening Chronicle gig listings and once supported Dumpy's Rusty Nuts.

You are all making me chuckle instead of working, you big lovelies.

Idle Working Men's Club
Hailing from Castleford, West Yorkshire, these veteran all-male four-piece indie rockers bounced back early in their career from the disappointment of being dropped at the last minute from the C86 compilation to become firm favourites of the John Peel show, going on to record 26 albums about rugby league and gravy.

AN OPTIMAL HAND-REARING SWIFT PROTOCOL.

The band Dog Chocolate could have been.

Clap Clap Fish
The funky, punky, insistent delivery of the likes of ESG, Rip Rig and Panic and James White & the Blacks, reimagined and shot through with a distinctive northeast Lincolnshire vernacular. Currently sidelined whilst contesting an intellectual theft case brought by the surviving members of Grab Grab The Haddock.

The thing itself is The UK Fire Association, which is a bit mod-psychedelic whimsy, a more edgy take on The Village Green Preservation Society, but what I was really thinking was that The Fire Association would be a cracking name for a Loop-style heavy psyche band from a minor British city, all long hair and mumbled interviews about how they 'make music for themselves and if anyone else likes it then that's a bonus'. Which they don't.

Found this yesterday in a pub and thought of this thread.

I've no idea what a December Cake Shoot is, but I'd totally go and watch a band called that.

Received a work email inviting me to go along to something called an Interdisciplinary Brown Bag.

So, clearly, Interdisciplinary Brown Bag.

I've never quite understood what these brown bag things are, but it basically looks like a way to get you to work through your lunch break. Is lunch and learn the same thing?

Well it's usually a speaker during your lunch break. In my experience, optional and possibly quite interesting, although I've not been to more than a couple.

The Ordsall Chord

Pavement-esque US-style college indie rock with a surprisingly Lancastrian twist

From the darkest depths of the quack health internet, Paradoxical Folate Deficiency

On Thrill Jockey Records I understand, but not as good as Tortoise.

Winkel Tripel Projection

Part of the Canterbury scene in the 70s, they released 8 albums, none of which have been made available on CD or digitally.

Honey Badgers

Scuzzy, blissed-out dreampop with JAMC guitar distortion and a waiflike vocalist who sounds like a slightly more or slightly less cynical Hope Sandoval depending on your emotional state when you listen.

They get a lot of votes to play Indietracks 2018, are invited to perform, and would love to do it, but the drummer's two-year-old child has a heart condition so in the end they can't all fly over from Sacramento, California to play it. Maybe 2019 instead - fingers crossed.
