I had an ex who loved this song, and it inexplicably rubbed off on me. It's by someone called Gigi D'Agostino and I downloaded about 6 or 7 other songs for her once. They were all absolutely dreadful.
I think I kinda like the cheesiness. And the bassiness. And the big vocal performance by the bloke. And the way it sort of stops half way through and starts up again. Fuck it, I love it all.
(Ignore the first 12 seconds, I have no idea what they are or where they're from)
Choooooooooooooooon!
*ahem* Excuse me.

You've just reminded me how much I love the Auteurs, Sam :)a layer of chips wrote:Like 'Showgirl' by The Auteurs, for example.
Showgirl is indeed excellent...but, for me, so is a lot of their other stuff...I really like 'Chinese Bakery' in particular...
But, a good song by a band I don't usually like?
'We Are Monkeys' by Travis. Travis, to me, are a bit dull, but, this is a great singalong POP!!! song...
Love is a weakness in the knees...it's dangerous on the stairs...

Ha, L'Amour Toujours (I'll fly with you). That was a big #1 hit in the Netherlands in 2001. My God I hated that (sorry).Nappysack wrote:I had an ex who loved this song, and it inexplicably rubbed off on me. Freak scene is the only song I like by Dinosaur Jr.

'God Put a Smile on Your Face' by Coldplay. They normally bore me, and Chris Martin's voice annoys me, but that song is one of my favourite singles of the decade.

Yeah, the keyboards, the melody, the bass... even the backing vocal "ooohs". It is the main vocal that kills it.
(Big shout out to The Curling Tong Tongs, my 12 year old daughter's band. They're waaaaay cooler than The Ting Tings!)
