No, it was there until they pissed everything up last year, I think. If something's gone, it's safe to say it went last year.

Yes, 'neighbours' went away last year when we all became beta testers.

I don't know if everyone already knows about this but I found this streaming scrobbler today for Bandcamp, Soundcloud and the like. This one is for Chrome, though I think there are others.

I have last.fm neighbours. Is it back, or am I special?

I want the old last.fm back. What's it done with the tag I was using to make a playlist for my own funeral? Change is bad.

Where were you when I was moaning about 'vinyls'? Oh : )

I miss the Anorak group and all that stuff. I've grown to like the look of the new thing, but why on earth would you 'revamp' something in order that you could do less with it and interact with other people less well. It remains fucking bollocks.

What are people scrobbling with? I don't think I really listen to music in a last.fm compatible way.
Toot toot.

I mostly use the last.fm Android app. It's a very limited app but it syncs with the Google Play Music app on my phone, which is how I do most of my listening now.

Someone's also made a scrobbler plug-in for Firefox which syncs with the Google Play Music website, which I can use if I'm listening on the laptop.

There's lots of plug ins for various browsers to scrobble from Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Youtube, BBC Radio (but only live, not catch up). There's one here for Chrome:
I've got one for Safari as well but it's not as good.

Spotify and Deezer both plug directly into last fm.

I'm so not with the times that I still predominately listen to mp3's using Winamp. The Chrome app will be useful, though, as I also stream a lot of Bandcamp stuff. I rarely do anything on the Last.fm site, though. It's more just something that happens in the background and once in a blue moon I'll look over my page for stats on my listening or to try to track down the name of that song by that band that I loved five years ago.

Last.fm is harrassing me to stop using adblock. It takes a few clicks to get around their message every time I open a page. Supremely irritating.

My final tally for top 20 artists of the year on last.fm:

1. The Beatles
2. Devendra Banhart
3. Beach House
4. Joanna Newsom
5. Grateful Dead
6. Cocteau Twins
7. Sublime
8. Dead Can Dance
9. Django Reinhardt
10. Peter, Paul & Mary
11. Raffi
12. The Doubleclicks
13. Cave Babies
14. Woody Guthrie
15. Watercolor Paintings
16. The Incredible String Band
17. Karen Dalton
18. The Skatalites
19. Salute to the Salmon
20. Charlie Parker

Not a lot of indiepop on that list, but hey, you should check out the Doubleclicks and Cave Babies.

I play so little music digitally these days (also not having proper broadband for about 4 months skewed it even more) that this is pretty much meaningless.

1 David Bowie
2 Pixies
3 The Wolfhounds
4 The Jesus and Mary Chain
5 Moor Mother
6 Nervous Twitch
7 Ramones
8 Ace Bushy Striptease
9 Oblivians
10 Year of Birds
11 Sealings
12 Iron Maiden
13 The Darling Buds
14 The Velvet Underground
15 Melanie
16 Neil Young
17 Bogshed
18 Darren Hayman
19 The Moldy Peaches
20 The Undertones

Question: What is indiepop anyway?
Answer: A pointless fucking genre name.
not really here

This be mine:

1 Haiku Salut
2 The Spook School
3 Thee AHs
4 John Williams
5 Deerful
6 Oh Peas!
7 Tacocat
8 The Pastels
9 Kardemimmit
10 Colour Me Wednesday
11 Tiny Fireflies
12 Whatevers
13 Jlin
14 The Tuts
15 Jessica & The Fletchers
16 The Popguns
17 The Middle Ones
18 Shirley & Dolly Collins
19 Humousexual
20 the receptionists

with all the usual caveats about non-digital (otherwise it would be mostly bands featuring Alasdair Roberts). And yes I have listened to Star Wars soundtracks quite excessively this year!

The most surprising entry to me is Whatevers (not the ones from Leeds) who I only found out about about a month or so ago but must be really good if I listened to them that much in such a short space of time (they are!).

The Doubleclicks is a great band name. I might go and listen to them just for the name.

Go on then, here's mine...

1 Alasdair Roberts and James Green
2 The Magnetic North
3 The Orchids
4 Songs for Walter
5 Deerful
6 July Skies
7 The Understudies
8 Frankie Machine
9 Robberie
10 Wintergreen
11 Helen Love
12 Saloon
13 Tilly and the Wall
14 Withered Hand
15 Dear Nora
16 James Figurine
17 The Nannas
18 Colleen Green
19 ABBA
20= Figurine
20= Peach Kelli Pop

I should probably try and be more adventurous.

They've made it significantly more difficult to delete scrobbles, and as someone who often falls asleep with music on and ends up with dozens (sometimes hundreds) of unwanted scrobbles that I have to delete en masse, I am irritated.
