As the final day falls into the night
There is peace outside
In the narrow light

And now I find that your old love letters describe
Someone I don't recognise.

(Admittedly only briefly; most of the time it's 'Paw Patrol, Paw Patrol, we'll be there on the double')

But the edges they fold
And you suddenly find
You are buried beneath
A blanket of snow
You had no idea was even falling

"but it was one afternoon, when he had heard guitar playing coming from her room and had run upstairs to confront her and had seen that it was only the wind in the curtains brushing against the open strings, that he finally knew she wasn't coming back"

"River Of Money"
The Go-Betweens

I also like the lines about the compass and about the travelling clock in that song, but it's that part about the guitar playing that sticks in my head.

You're probably right, seen from your side, that I've been lucky
But I've been meaning to crack all week
Yes I've been involved, it never resolved into anything shocking
Pains playing yo-yo in my body as we speak

"The guitars break, we make mistakes
We are freeze framed in our own dull light"

"Long After Tonite's Candles Are Blown"
Comet Gain

And also this from "Behind The House She Lived In", "Two blackbirds in the garden/A snowflake sends a warning to you". It's not easy to carry off a line like that, even if the album is about ghosts, but Rachel's deadly earnest delivery is perfect for it.

"I stayed at home on the fourth of July,
And I pulled the shades so I didn't have to see the sky.
I decided to have a bed-in,
But I forgot to invite anybody"

She said "Robbie, don't be a robot"
And I said "basically, I'm not"

Oh Dracula comes from Transylvania
Stevie nicks books about kleptomania
Johnny looked out of his bedroom window
And shouted to his mum “Fred Titmus!”

I watched an episode of The Big Bang Theory the other day where Sheldon has the melody of Darlin' by the Beach Boys stuck in his head, and ever since, I've had the melody of Darlin' by the Beach Boys stuck in my head.

but always up the mountainside you're clambering
groping blindly, hungry for anything:
picking through your pocket linings - well, what is this?
scrap of sassafras, eh Sisyphus?

Farewell to this land's cheerless marshes
Hemmed in like a boar between arches
