Feed me MP3s

Post by RITH » Tue Oct 02, 2007 9:53 am

I'm hungry.

That band or that song that you think is great? I might not know it. But I want to! I don't care if it's your housemate's sister's band's first recording or a number one hit on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. I still might not know it.

To avoid problems, we should probably stick to songs made available for free and legal download by labels and bands.

Let's start with some Tullycraft:

Twee
Stowaway
Our days in Kansas
Pop songs your new boyfriend's too stupid to know about

I've got a lovely one for you. An early Popguns demo - as far as I can tell the song hasn't been released elsewhere, so I don't know the title.

Here it is.

This one's posted on the Tullycraft site today. I've listened to it like fourteen times since 3:00.

More Tullycraft site reposting - Colin Clary of the Smittens writes pretty, pretty songs.

Colin Clary - Backseat, Man
the trouble with personalities, they're too wrapped up in style
it's too personal; they're in love with their own guile

has anyone noticed the sad turn the hype machine has taken?
it now only activates when there are 10 000 (!) or more people accessing it simultaneously...
:(

as a more useful contribution, i really like this song, by annemarie, from the musicismygirlfriend.com website. it's called "apple" and it's aceness (as are the people from mimg!) :)

well, the hype machine is a mp3 blog aggregator (http://hype.non-standard.net) and a great source of mp3's for me... but last time i went on there, there was just a page saying:
the hype machine 2 has been launched, but will only come out and play if there are 10,000 people logged on.
there are currently 1,764 people online...

which basically means it's going to be really really hard to catch it online...

You might want to check that again, though. I think I used it yesterday with no problem. Maybe I was lucky, but maybe you were fooled.

I think the 10,000 thing was just marketing ploy for launch.

Ooh, Mouse Eat Mouse are on the front page, coolness!!

excellent news!
i'm not sure how well thought-out a "marketing ploy" it was though... i was about to give up on it after seeing that page...

They probly looked at the number of hits they get per hour and figured it was easy, but misjudged how long people stay online for. Its a fine art, guessing webtraffic

The Owls!

I love her voice very much. Their newest record came out this week on Magic Marker along with the Tullycraft one.

Here's one song, called Peppermint Patty
