Saw Of Montreal doing a cheeky little free gig at the RT East last night. Marvellous.

Nice, what kind of set did they do? Was there a fair bit from the new album?

My ex said she saw Kevin busking in Dalston a few weeks ago, and had a conversation with him...

It was described as acoustic but was more than just that as the full band played (now 6 of them). All new LP stuff apart from one classic off previous album at end.

actually, while i think of it - i was trying to put together that mix i promised you the other day and i couldn't decide if you liked the olivia tremor control or not. do you? i always used to presume you were a fan of such things because you gave me that neutral milk hotel lp.

i'd love to hear them so fire ahead... when i say i'm not sure whether i'm in to elephant 6 or not, it's purely because all i've bought in the last 10 years is the 2nd neutral milk hotel lp... the other stuff passed me by

eek! mike :) it's like being back in 1999. i was so jealous of my boyfriend's membership of hhbtm's lovely singles club.

i'm so out of touch with the new releases. i fear a slippery slope if i start buying lots of stuff again.

well thank you, yeah i wish i would have kept a few of those old clubs around. i would be rich right now. ....looking at that list it would seem like 1999. the thing i like most about all the e6 stuff is that even when it wasn't cool or had fallen out of favor with the indie community, all those bands just kept doing their thing. right now is great especially with everyone getting back together, and well to be honest julian coming back this year has really lit the fire under neath everyone. i know the history always states apples olivia and neutral milk, but julian and his music tapes has a big part in getting everyone excited. i asked julian to play every year for the athens popfest, but somehow this year it all worked out. now jeff is playing again a bit, so with all this activitiy it might not be too far away for the return of neutral milk hotel too.

It's really wonderful, I saw it in Virginia. They didn't revive any Neutral Milk Hotel songs, but if they do they'll only play instrumentals like The Fool. (which is great, because trying to have someone else sing Jeff's parts would be a bummer)

They play great versions of Music Tapes and Elf Power songs.

Jealous! Tho, I guess I'll get to see them at ATP in December (too long!), should hopefully get some E6 fix at Athens Popfest too.

yeah the first couple of of montreal albums were very E6, then well I purposely stopped listening to them since i was just so disappointed with their change in sound.

Bill Doss! I can't believe it. Few musicians have meant more to me than those in the Elephant 6 Recording Company. It's going to be strange to see any of them play knowing Bill Doss won't be joining in.

David (gloom button) reminded me early of how absolutely lovely he and Robert Schneider were together at Athens Popfest in 2007.
