Just got more info on this:
'll try to get info up on the web ASAP but basically it's a few bands and the world premiere (hah!) screening of the 'Slamptumentary: 1995, The Year Punk Got Fixed' video made in that year, with some later footage too tacked on the end. Newcastle, Sat 27th Sept, Star and Shadow Cinema, Byker.

You should come; Wimpshake are on, and Bilge Pump, but its mostly good, young bands not old fartz.

This looks so ace, I'd love to go. Anyone up for a Newcastle indiepop adventure? I've never been before.

They fit this thread quite well, probably. They make shouty indiepoppunk.
I don't really like it.

indiansummer wrote: Hotpants Romance seem to be really popular, but they don't do it for me. They can't really sing (and not in a charming way) and the shouting is high-pitched to the point of glass-shattering. They have some quite good songs in a noisy garage band sorta way, but i can't get past the playing meself.
This. When I find myself saying, parental-style, "It's just noise" - it's time to step away from a band. They're very stylish but the shouty ineptitude is just unpleasant to my ears.

Oh yeh, that's probably a more succinct way of putting it.

'Pansy Twist' is my favourite Huggy Bear song, but I'm not sure I've seen this video before. Anyway, it's ace.

i love just idly following around youtube video links.

i prefer 'love your money' by daisy chainsaw.

When the people are being beaten with a stick, they are not much happier if it is called 'the People's Stick.'

Yeah! That's one of my favourite songs even though all the cool kids probably think it's mince. QueenAdreena are more than a bit rubbish though.

I used to know a lad who got a Daisy Chainsaw tattoo on his forearm. I bet he regrets that now.

Please bring that video around in a couple of weeks, Andy!

i was bored yesterday so i finally got round to ripping two huggy bear tapes:

Image
we bitched tape (wiiija) (info)

Code: Select all

 http://www.mediafire.com/?zjnn2thbkii
Image
huggy nation - kisser boy, kisser girl tape (soul static sound) (info)

Code: Select all

 side a -- http://www.mediafire.com/?gyzl0iyjjgu
side b -- http://www.mediafire.com/?wjyi2k1kzyz
both tapes are 320kbps mp3 -- had to upload huggy nation as two folders because of file size limitations on mediafire.

also, linus has posted some of these videos in the youtube thread, but do check out the getting close to nothing video compilation on youtube.

kicking giant are on that kisser boy, kisser girl tape and I've got an interview with one half of kicking giant, tae won you, lined up for the next 'a fog of ideas' zine

that should be out as soon as I can afford to photocopy the fucker up or I may just blog it all and not bother with the 'zine (although that kind of goes against all my pointless ideals)

annoyingly, my original copy of huggy nation now plays at the wrong speed -- fortunately i was able to borrow a friend's copy that plays fine, in a lofi-as-hell kind of way. we had different versions of the artwork, i've included both in the folder.

tae seems really cool. his artwork is great. what music has he done other than the kg? (my understanding is that the kg is him solo, after rachel left kicking giant, but it may have been both of them).

blogs are okay, but a hard copy of your zine as well would be more fun.
