SMARTIES - An indiepop Rubble...

Post by Jangloid Mark » Thu Feb 07, 2013 12:48

Someone mentioned the idea of an indiepop Rubble type series in the 'scared to get happy' thread. I think it's a great idea!!!!

A series of compilations, with both fairly well knows tracks (but ones they by and large don't end up on loads of compilations), as well as little known gems....

Anyway, feel free to make your own volumes and submit here (you never know, someone may eventually make a playlist somewhere of each volume...)...

Also feel free to comment on the track selection...positive as wel as negative comments are welcomed...

Anyway, here goes....

SMARTIES 1 : A TUBE FULL OF OF SMARTIES

1. THE CLOUDS - Jenny Nowhere
2. THE SPINNING JENNYS - Splended
3. THE SIDDLEYS - You Get What You Deserve
4. EXPLAINED EMMA - Unnecessary Strain

That's a good volume 2, Richpassivity :)

3. RED CHAIR FADEAWAY - The Watermill Of No Place
4. THE SWEETEST ACHE - Briaris
5. BIFF BANG POW - Love's Going Out Of Fashion
6. THE REVOLVING PAINT DREAM - Flowers In The Sky
7. SPACEMEN 3 - Hypnotised
8. CLOCK STRIKES THIRTEEN - My Dreams Misinterpreted Again
9. THE TIMES - I Helped Patrick McGoohan Escape
10. GORKY'S ZYGOTIC MYNCI - Eating Salt Is Easy

11. THE CAROUSEL - Strawberry Fayre
12. THE MOCK TURTLES - Lay Me Down
13. BRIGHTER - Tinsel Heart
14. PALE BLUE LIGHT - Dreaming Again

Anyone want to compile volume 4? I've got ideas for 2 more volumes, one vaguely themed, one not themed at all....but, this is not about me....

You know what would be good? If people put their lovely compilations together in a compressed folder, and uploaded them on mediafire for other Anorakers to download and enjoy, that would be good. People who do that sort of thing are good people.

That's a really good idea :)

I don't have everything on the two volumes I compiled, there are a few things that I used to have (taped off Peel etc.), that I would love to have again (Rachel's Tulip, Explained Emma, A Better Mousetrap etc), that don't appear to be anywhere online.

Hmmm....I need to clear some space in my hard drive first...but, then, yeah...I'll need to do a shout out for missing tracks...

I like volume 4 a lot....well, I love what I know and love that there's a fair bit that I don't.

I think I may well compile these and upload when I've got some disc space...

Can't wait for volume 6!!! (I've got 2 more volumes in my head, but, don't want this to all about me)...

Damn, I only know 3 songs from Vol 4 and I LOVE all of them! I need to investigate that one further.
