I like it! It's nowhere near their best song or anything but it sounds fresh and it's nice to see them take it in a new direction for the new album.

That photo is nearly as bad as the song.

I really like the style/arrangements of the new stuff but I also think The Party Line is just at its heart kind of a boring song regardless of whether they decided to do it as guitar-pop or synth-pop. I hope it's not a single and they've just bunged it on YouTube first to get the dullest one out of the way(???).

I'm quite into the one with the keytar on the previous page though.
I'm Emma. Insert Field Mice reference here.

I was a bit nonplussed with it at first, but it's really grown on me. I suppose I'm just a sucker for a two/four drumbeat in the chorus.

Video is a bit patchy, but there are some lovely dance sequences.

They're asking for contributions for the next video. Doesn't say whether they'll be paying for footage they use - I've asked on Twitter, but only a couple of minutes ago so no reply yet. I do hope they aren't going down the "work for us for exposure!" route. Especially since they don't promise exposure.

Nobody's Empire is proper classic old school B&S! Really love it! Surprised you lot aren't talking about it yet!

I like it. It’s anthemic in places… or is it nursery rhyme-ish… or is it Neil Diamond singing a nursery rhyme… I’m not sure which. But I like it.

"And he told me to leave that vision of hell to the dying, oh to the dying!"

I quite like both the new songs. Controversially, 'The Party Line' more than 'Nobody's Empire'. So dancingful! I'm well into dancingful right now.

Right with you on 'The Party Line', I like how it's a proper pop song, rather than what the usually do, which is say, 'yeah it's a big pop song/album' and it just sounds like Belle and Sebastian with nobs on. I thought 'Nobody's Empire' was a bit tedious though, by far the weakest thing from it I've heard so far - I've failed to hear the end of it in four attempts.

Click on site one:

"You can download 'Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance' after filling in these short surveys!"

Heard that before. Click on site two:

"You can download 'Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance' after filling in…"

Yada…click on site three. Click on link. Get excited. Then...

"Time left for download - 48 minutes, 47.59, 47.58, 47.57…"

Think of untold other records knocking round my house/computer I haven't listened to properly yet. Lose will to live. Decide that leaks are over-rated.

Tell us if it's any good Tim!

Okay, it's bloody marvellous. The Party Line is the most representative of the legally available tracks. Lots of europop synths throughout. Doesn't sound like any of their previous albums at all. It feels like a reboot after the recent reissues and getting God Help The Girl out of the way. Lots of highlights. It's long too (just over an hour).

For the record, I am loving the Euro synth pop.

*shudders*

Tim kindly sent me the album through yesterday night. A Layer of Chips is absolutely right about 'The Cat With The Cream', but the Europop really is the main headline. 'Enter Sylvia Plath' sounds even better than the live version - full on disco, Abba style!

Shame he missed the chance to compare and contrast the two David Axelrods.
