I would poop with joy (though, is that really a selling point for our argument?) AND chip in for a nice bus!
seriously. please. serious joy-pooping would happen.

Hi, guys. I was just checking out the new ballet songs on my space and had a little e-mail correspondence. He said you guys contacted them (thanks!) but the scheduling didn't work out. Is there no way you can squeeze them in? I normally never ask such crazy "favors" but they are just unbelievable and haven't played live in the Boston area at all and not even in NY in ages because of PhD work.

This would be monumental!!

Anything you could do would be much appreciated.

seconded, everything she said. is there really no way to fit in one more band? it's impossible to overstate how much it would rule if they played this, especially, as noted above, because they've been laying so low for so long.

We asked them, but in the meantime while they were checking their schedule, the 3 spots that we had open filled up!

Specific Heats and Lil Hospital are playing Friday night and The Toothaches switched from Saturday (which was already full) to Sunday. If a band breaks up (ha ha) or can't make it, we will ask them first!

Are you guys going to be there all 3 days?

cheers,
christine

We're there all three days. It's your festival but, seriously, The Ballet haven't played much (if at all?) outside of the NY area. This would be mad props for New England and you'd probably get more folks to travel from NY. Their self-pressed CD has been enormously successful with zero marketing. Having them would make a lot of fans happy and be a launching pad for the band to renew their gig schedule.

I'm leaving it now.

Hurrah, that's almost exactly when I was hoping all the bands would be. I'm really looking forward to this, thank you William and Christine for taking the time to put it together.
And by me, I mean, Flexo.

Awesome! We're really putting this together on a shoestring budget, so we're happy that we can do it again. We look forward to having a great time!!! Please introduce yourselves, too, I'll probably be at the door!

Some help needed from Boston area people who are coming to the popfest.

Magnus Karlsson from the Charade and Happydeadmen needs a ride from the airport.
He's landing on Thursday Nov 6th and staying at the airport hotel, so he'd need a ride to the popfest on friday and a ride back to the airport after it's over.
Please contact me off the list and I will get you his e mail address.
Also, if there are any Boston area boards that you feel this post should appear on, please feel free to re-post.
Thanks!

Great news folks! Mark from teenbeat contacted us and the band "maybe it's reno" will be playing saturday night ! ! !

"A new band featuring Bridget Cross, formerly of DC bands Unrest, Velocity Girl, and Air Miami. The 2008 debut release from Maybe It’s Reno on Teenbeat features Mark Robinson on guitar and and drummer Phil Krauth — the same cohorts she had in Unrest, only now Bridget is the sole writer and singer."

Heya

I had a great time! Though it was unfortunate that there was not more of an "audience" turn out. I felt like we were the only ones there who were not in a band (especially when Jonathan from the 500s said "oh, I didn't realize that anyone came who wasn't in a band") or that a lot of the band members themselves couldn't stick around for more of the weekend besides the times they were playing. There were some really good (and some not so good) bands playing and it's too bad that they didn't get more exposure. I did really like that venue and it was great to meet and spend quality time with everyone. Pictures will be posted somewhere on the internet soon.

I was pooping for joy all over the place.

Thanks William & Christine for putting it all together. I had a really fun weekend, it's a nice town and it was great to escape from cities. It was a super selection of bands too, useful ideas for indietracks. Loads of friendly people too. First scrabble game I've played at an indiepop show, and first baloon fight. Roll on 2009!

i meant to ask someone while we were there, but never did: whose ipod(s) were playing between sets? is there any chance a playlist could be posted somewhere? so many good songs came on that i'd never heard before.
