This year was my first Indietracks experience; I’d been aware of the festival for a few years but just never had the opportunity to go before. And the verdict? I honestly don’t think I could express in words just how much I enjoyed it; a fantastic setting, a truly brilliant line-up of amazing bands, a really friendly atmosphere and, probably most incredibly of all, hot sunny weather all weekend (my track record with good weather at festivals isn’t great, this was my first outdoor one in 5 years). I’d choose Indietracks over any of the big festivals any time, in fact I’d probably prefer it to a holiday abroad.
If I had to pick one personal highlight it would have to be The Hidden Cameras, who I’ve been dying to see live for about 7 years, and they didn’t disappoint (except for that brief moment I was worried they weren’t going to do an encore!)
Massive congratulations and thanks to everyone involved in organising this superb festival, I’ll definitely be back!

The weekend felt SO short! Still can't believe it's over. I'm thinking about using some kind of GPS next year because there are friends I haven't seen at all whereas I spent most of my time chatting and meeting new people (and that's how I missed the Hobbes Fanclub... nooo!).

Best bits :
Tears in my eyes on the Chills' "Heavenly Pop Hit" and Withered Hand's "No Cigarettes". I felt pure relief and joy when those songs were played in such a beautiful, emotional way. Aw.
Silly dancings with the best people on the Flatmates and the Wendy Darlings - felt sorry for Suzy when her guitar was getting covered in blood, but she kept a big smile all along. What a gig!
Thee Ahs playing a fantastic set on the outdoor stage. The Swapsies giving us the best Sunday start we could have hoped. Lisa Bouvier playing "Every Year Until We Die" twice in the train. Spearmint treating us with "We're Going Out".
Being "recognized" at the shed bar when one of the guys already knew what I was going to order (dunno if it's a good sign or not...).
Petting the birds.
Ice cubes at the bar!

Not-so-best bits :
Feeling kinda dizzy during the Manhattan Love Suicides set due to some exhaustion/heat combination.
Missing some gigs even if I didn't have anything special to do at the time, but I was just feeling happy to walk around and catch up with people.
The owls didn't recognize me from last year.
Stupidly slipped and fell in the shed after Withered Hand, and my lovely Sunday painfully ended at the Derby hospital instead of a glorious indie disco. That was unfair.

I love first posts after Indietrack, cause I did the same 2 years ago. Welcome!

Wow – comfortably the best Indietracks I’ve been to. I had a wonderful time catching up with people and seeing some great music. I’ve spent the last few days in a haze just yearning to go back.

Here’s a list of awesome things that stick in the memory:

Every act I saw totally bringing their A game and blowing me away
Looking back across the crowd during Allo Darlin’ / The Hidden Cameras / The Spook School and seeing everyone going crazy
The bass player from The Wendy Darlings having ‘RIP Ace Bushy Striptease’ written around the edge of his guitar (sob!)
The heat of the train being totally worth it for the bands I saw in there
The campsite disco on Saturday night playing ‘Call Me Maybe’ and Bruce Springsteen (twice!)
The dancing parrot who also tried to rip off my friend’s wristband
A drunken conversation with Niall from The Spook School who talked me through his winning goal in the early hours of Sunday morning
Bands dancing to their own songs at the campsite disco and loving it (but Paul from Allo Darlin’ refusing to dance to his own song!)
How filthy with dust my two nieces managed to get at the main festival site on the Saturday
American Girl, Slumdog, Mellow Yellow and ESM
Learning what the numbers mean at the bottom of a bottle of Buckfast

Roll on 2015!

Let's do a list of Indietracks covers again. I remember:

Bordeauxxx - Pure Shores (All Saints)
The Just Joans - Will he kiss me tonight (Dolly mixture)
The Just Joans - Do you remember the first time? (Pulp)
Allo Darlin' - If you don't pull (The Just Joans)
Mega Emotions - La isla bonita (Madonna)
Joanna Gruesome - Tugboat (Galaxie 500)
Cosines - Young Turks (Rod Stewart)
The Swapsies - (You're so square) Baby I don't care (Elvis Presley)

The Royal Landscaping Society did an Alpaca Sports cover, but I don't know which one.

Screen Prints did a Sea Urchins cover. I think it was called 'Cling Film'?

Ooh and Big Joanie did No Scrubs by TLC I believe, although sadly I wasn't there to witness that one!

The Flatmates covered Prince's 'When You Were Mine' - It's on our new single, due next month...

Also The Spook School did their collaboration track 'Saliva' with a Just Joan - so kind of a cover there, as the track is released as by 'Ivor McGyver'.
Cheers!

Thanks to all the bands and people I love. You know who you are. You probably saw me dancing. Photos soon but Indietracks has actually broken me this year. Yes, I threw up and collapsed in the heat about three miles away from Swanwick Junction and they had to call an ambulance. Heat and bags and the whole weekend don't mix. I'm sure it's not the first time someone has been sick in Heanor Market Place. I'm still recovering but it's taking time and I can't stop my life. See you all soon. xxx

Broken ribs unfortunately so it'll take some time to be good. Sorry to hear that you had to go to an hospital as well! I had to take a taxi, quite a long ride.
Indietracks 2014 anthem : "I Won't Survive".

Edit : and now I wonder why the Red Cross guys told me to go to Derby whereas it seems that there are some closest hospitals. Ah well.

I came in at the end of the uke lesson in the tent and missed out. There were no full sheets left and I still can't play.
It was one of a number of times at the weekend I nearly cried (The other times caused by The Popguns, The Flatmates, The Just Joans and 'Allo Darlin). The Spook School didn't make me cry, but I love them anyway.
