Well, I don't necessarily disagree with you about any of that. I mean, I wouldn't suggest all of those acts could play in the same year (I'm not putting up a wishlist in the expectation or even hope that every act on it would get booked - it's more a set of suggestions, really, and if some wind up playing then great), but I certainly think one or two of those on the bill would do the festival no harm at all. Only Neko Case is a real stretch, I'd say - but there's nowt wrong with floating the idea, I reckon.humblebee wrote:Nobody wants the "what is indiepop?" conversation again, but are any of those bands actually indiepop bands John? Maybe, in the broadest sense of the term, Slow Club and Art Brut (although I haven't heard of Neko Case).johnkell wrote:Possible headliners
The Go! Team
Yo La Tengo
The New Pornographers
I'm all for a few definition stretchers, maybe even the odd remit-breaker, but if you bring in more than a couple of those out-and-out indie rock acts like Yo La Tengo and Grandaddy then you fundamentally alter the character of the festival and, imo, start to lose what makes it unique.
Hang on, you said the Go! Team as well, didn't you? I love the Go! Team. Shit. That's an excellent call. I will try and think of a way of twisting everything I've just said so that they can be included!
Slow Club + Grandaddy + Allo Darlin
Art Brut + Yo La Tengo + Allo Darlin? Yes please!!
(didn't include Allo Darlin on my original list because *obviously*)
