Nobody wants the "what is indiepop?" conversation again, but are any of those bands actually indiepop bands John? Maybe, in the broadest sense of the term, Slow Club and Art Brut (although I haven't heard of Neko Case).

I'm all for a few definition stretchers, maybe even the odd remit-breaker, but if you bring in more than a couple of those out-and-out indie rock acts like Yo La Tengo and Grandaddy then you fundamentally alter the character of the festival and, imo, start to lose what makes it unique.

Hang on, you said the Go! Team as well, didn't you? I love the Go! Team. Shit. That's an excellent call. I will try and think of a way of twisting everything I've just said so that they can be included!
Well, I don't necessarily disagree with you about any of that. I mean, I wouldn't suggest all of those acts could play in the same year (I'm not putting up a wishlist in the expectation or even hope that every act on it would get booked - it's more a set of suggestions, really, and if some wind up playing then great), but I certainly think one or two of those on the bill would do the festival no harm at all. Only Neko Case is a real stretch, I'd say - but there's nowt wrong with floating the idea, I reckon.

Slow Club + Grandaddy + Allo Darlin
or, say,
Art Brut + Yo La Tengo + Allo Darlin? Yes please!!

(didn't include Allo Darlin on my original list because *obviously*)

Probably as much or as little of a stretch as the similarly Peel-approved (and Peel listener-approved) Laura Cantrell? I'd love to see either play.

also:

No Ditching
Ace Bushy Striptease
Autobodies
Sourpatch
Cassolette
Bunnygrunt
Tenderbuttons
September Girls
The Julie Ruin
Cool Moms

and if Oh-OK wanted to reform and come over, that would be lovely

same goes for Huggy Bear, obviously, but without the 'coming over' part

yes, you have my permission, I didn't add them to that list because they were on my first one and didn't want to double dip

My knackered old brain can only conjure up a few band names at a time so I'll end up doing multiple "Ooh, and so-and-so" posts. But for now...

The Very Most
The Smittens
The Wendy Darlings
The Just Joans
The Popguns
The Flatmates
Bubblegum Splash (or just Nikki singing Bubblegum Splash songs on the beach would be ok)
Robberie
The Sweet Nothings
The Close Lobsters
Teen Canteen
Hard Skin
BMX Bandits

And for fantasy crowd-grabbing headliner let's have either:

The Smiths or
Aztec Camera or
MJ Hibbett and The Validators

would've loved that sorta thing about 4-5 years ago. that whole Captured Tracks thing just sounds played out to the point of annoyance now (to these ears anyway)

on the other hand i guess some of those bands would bring more folks down, so maybe it ain't such a bad idea
