Workshop Wigwam

Post by tekno_alice » Sat Jun 27, 2009 13:25

We're excited to announce that this year at Indietracks we will be having a new tent, the 'Workshop Wigwam'.

The tent will host various workshops and events, so as well as watching some tip-top bands over the weekend, you can write a song with The Smittens’ Colin Clary, get crafty with the Craft Guerrillas and The Bunty Collective, find out about making your own clothes with Eithne Farry, and win some serious prizes in the poptastic pop quiz! We are particularly excited about having our favourite jewellers Tatty Devine involved because in addition to running a workshop they have also designed special limited edition Indietracks jewellery for us!

This is what we have planned for the weekend…

Saturday
- How not to run a record label – Sean Fortuna POP!
- The Only Way to Write a Song (and at least 10 other ways to do it) – Colin Clary of The Smittens
- Make Your Own Souvenir Jewellery - Tatty Devine
- Hey Ho Lets Sew - Eithne Farry
- Bunting Making Party - The Bunty Collective

Sunday
- Pop quiz - with quizmaster Bob Brown
- DIY fanzines! - Twee as F*ck
- 'Crafternoon' - a DIY Craft Event with hosts Craft Guerilla
- Buttons for Eyes - Faye Cooke and Leonna O'Neill

We've asked our workshop organisers a few questions so you festival goers can find out a lil bit more about them and we'll be posting these interviews on the blog over the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled! More details about the workshops and the people who are running them will also appear on the Indietracks website in the next couple of days.

aw man! i'd love to go to some of these. the sewing and jewellery ones especially. yet more reasons to be sad about missing indietracks.

Workshop Wigwam! I love it. I'm totally looking forward to stopping by this tent of fabulosity. I shan't be bringing my sewing machine though. Am interested in the Indietracks Tatty jewelry too. :-)

Ooh, this sounds lovely! But I'll be wanting to watch music . . . Now I am thinking wouldn't it be nice to have a Workshop Wigwam Festival as well as an Indietracks Festival. Mmm, now theres an idea!

Bands? Who goes to a festival to watch bands now?
A workshop is a nice way to have a sit down and chill out between the music madness.

The page on the website about the workshops is now up...

And read Colin and Sean's interviews on the blog now...

Just thought I'd let everyone know, bob has had to pull out of doing the quiz on the Sunday. However, to make up for it Gordon from the legendary Ballboy will be comparing the quiz. He was absolutely hilarious doing the raffle at the SF popfest earlier this year so trust me yr in for a treat!

Can anyone tell me if you do the bunting workshop do you get to use a Gocco Machine? I've never heard of it before and now I'm curious to see how it works.

On the Indietracks web site it says that:
The winner will have their design printed up and everyone taking part will receive one!
So it sounds like if the participants don't get to use the gocco machine, at least they will have one there. I wonder if the ink smells good.

Thats the sort of idea I got. I'll go along and ask about it even though I've just found out that they don't make them anymore - boo!
