Yup, they're new ones. I wonder what "English Only" means, as I'm sure the onboard language can be changed.

Because of my money situation, it's cheaper for me here than in the US.

I'm having a terrible want but don't need it inner struggle.

oh! I'm jealous. What size did you get? Did you an mp3 player already? I'm going to treat myself to one at Christmas time (hopefully I'll get some christmas money to contribute) just for running. I spend all my time thinking about what colour and what size to get. Orange, eh? They're all so pretty!

I personally could not live without my Ipod (Im on my 2nd one as I filled up my 30mb and have now got a 80mb). I have my entire music collection on my ipod - and various docking stations around the house. Have numerous playlists and I am constantly changing them. The only problem is that I can't stop buying music!!!! this ipod is already half full! so won't be long before I have to get another.

No, I was just pretending to be a man from the IT Crowd. And if that's not allowed, the nazis have already won.

Can anyone tell me what syncing is please?

And, y'know, how to put things on an Ipod so you can actually listen to them.

Is that the same thing?

Why can't you just click and drag things?

because it's apple.

Syncing is the way of transferring what you have to the ipod. I have to create an IPOD selection list because I have too many mp3's to sync with my player. It took me a while to get used to itunes/ipod after being an iriver user - but have to say I like my ipod just fine.

You can change the settings though, the first time you plug in the Ipod it will be set to 'autosync' so ig like Trev, and probably lots of us on here, you have more music than the Xgb of the ipod it won't all fit on. If you change it to 'manual sync' then it's just like any drag and drop device - it will open as a seperate section in itunes and you just add/delete much as you want, no need to create seperate playlists or anything like that.

It's dead easy (and easier than when i used to have an iriver too)
and that snare drum, that drum roll
means we've got a winner

Yes. You still have to use iTunes, though.

Manual has the advantage of being able to play songs on your iPod through iTunes, as well. (i.e. they're not greyed out?)

Bloody Itunes has just buggered up my entire music folder. It's made new folders for everything and moved things into them without deleting the old ones. And it's split up all the compilation albums by making a new folder for each artist on them. With one track in each folder. NUHHHHHH! What a piece of shit. Anyone know how to reverse this? I might just delete the whole folder and rebuild it from scratch, otherwise.

Again, it's in the settings, you need to go to Edit > Settings > Advanced then make sure 'keep itunes music folder organised' is unticked, then you can keep things where YOU want to and not where Itunes wants you to.

The compilation thing is a little more annoying, but for any compilation you import you need to make sure that the 'part of a compilation' is ticked.

It does take a while to get there when you first install it, and you start pulling your hair out and wandering why you have mulitple folders for a whole bunch of things, but once you get used to it, it's fine.

The best thing to do (I find) is to is have all your music in a folder on your desktop, and have your iTunes folder completely empty. Then drag all the music into iTunes so it nicely organises it, and delete the original folder. If you're importing compilations properly I think it works really well.

whenever I get MP3s, though, I do the whole having the raw mp3 folder on my desktop, dragging into iTunes and deleting the original folder (before making sure all the tags are ok (particularly 'remember where I left off' and 'do not play in shuffle' for radio shows, ticking the compilations box for compliations, and adding nice album art, because I use the iPhoto style thumbnail view).

I'm a bit pernickety.

Itunes has actually fucking *deleted* a load of music. As well as making a total bastard dog's breakfast of cataloguing my music folder. The stuff that I hadn't got round to tagging, rather than just leave it alone, it's fucking deleted the lot.

Call me a luddite, but, that's partly why I don't use my Ipod that much....that and the fact that all the files are in ATRAC....which makes for a bastard when trying to get files between devices...

Maybe, I'm old fashioned, but, I actually much prefer my discman (minidisc), all you need to do, is take one disc out, and put another one in...simple.
