For anyone who doesn't susbscribe to Popbitch...

Sam update! He is now coming to the garden to be fed, and hopefully hasn't noticed that his bowl is moving a foot nearer to the house each day. I suspect he now has a second home, judging by the fatness of his tail and paws. Ungrateful so-and-so!

Kitten-Cat's responded well to the insulin and put on a bunch of weight. It's nice when medicine actually works. Just wish they could make insulin in pill form.

Speaking of medicine, I don't suppose anyone's had a cat with allergies? Peg has severe seasonal allergies and has torn herself to shreds with itching. We've been trying to manage it with steroids but the vets now suggesting immunotherapy.

I mean, immunotherapy for a cat? But the little dear is so sore looking, and her lesions keep getting infected. Also the steroids have made her into a proper little chubber. So god knows what we'll do. We still need to find out the cost...

Sam was a bit flaky once upon a time - we got this (probably nonsense) herbal drops from the pet shop, Immune plus or something. In a white and blue bottle. Or have you tried Feliway? or those calming drops? might be that if your little one de-stresses a bit, she might stop scratching as much? (or even as brutal as it sounds, can you clip her claws down a bit? just thinking of all the things that stop you tearing at yr eczema....)

Anoracats!

Kitten (the diabetic one) jumped out the bedroom window and has now been AWOL for more than 24 hours. I'm kind of nervous for her.

There's now a tumblr devoted to the famous cats of Sheffield. It's my new favourite tumblr:

I've met the kelham island one! The red house cat needs to be on there too.

I hope your missing kitten returns safely, Gordon!

Still no sign. Luckily she's chipped and we have some kind of alert service set should she be scanned. It's just worrying as she's not been out on her own since I lived in London.

Yeah, it's natural to be worried. Cats do often just bugger off for a bit, though, especially if it's their first taste of freedom in a while. I hope she turns up.

I'm starting to feel a bit bad about keeping Star (now referred to as the fox-pig) indoors all the time. The plan was that I would move in with my boyfriend for a few months while we looked for a bigger flat to buy, but that was 7 or 8 months ago now and we're still looking. I didn't want to start letting her out and then have to get her used to two new environments rather than one, mainly because she finds it a bit stressful and makes her stress known by shitting and pissing by the front door, which is dangerous if the postman comes really early and you have to stumble out of bed to the door. And the kittens (now referred to as Waffles and the Professor, at least by me) haven't been outside since they were born on a farm. It just seems easier to wait until we've moved, but the longer it goes on, the guiltier I feel.

First world problems, there.

Can you put notes around to the neighbours now? I stupidly left it about 3 weeks before I bothered and then got a phonecall within 18 hours to say 'Er yeah, he was in our garden 3 days ago...' then I spent a week panicking because I'd 'missed' him. (We actually got him to eat outside the back door yesterday. Maybe soon he'll remember what the cat flap does...)
Crossing my fingers for you, I know how horrid it is...

In other news, I like this page: http://mycatisadick.com/

Be wary if you don't occasional pictures of puke or birds/mice.
