Smart Patrol: a club night in London, from Friday 23rd March
Hello,
I'm starting a night downstairs at the Slaughtered Lamb in Clerkenwell from 23rd September. It's called Smart Patrol, after a song by Devo, and the theory is that it'll be the 4th Friday of the month thenceforth (unless no-one comes to the first one). It'll be open from about half 8 'til 1am, and it's free to get in.
I guess the music that'll be played there will be fairly eclectic, but it's reasonable to expect to hear a fair amount of 60s/70s/psych/funk/new wave/electro (and electropop)/krautrock and what I would vaguely describe as modern alternative (basically the bands you'd usually get playing at festivals like ATP and Primavera Sound). I understand that that doesn't quite fit in with what most people here listen to, but it's all good stuff regardless, promise.

Re: Smart Patrol, an eclectic club night in London, 23/9
Ah - I wondered who had nicked some of the Friday night spots I was after. Good luck. may well come down to this.

expertly and elegantly timed to coincide with my birthday... may very well be down that way about then and if we are then, rest assured, this is the only ticket in town I'll consider

You'll be in Minehead on the 2nd Friday of March!
Looking forward to finally making it to one of these soon, though.

I know! I forgot, and was just about the e-mail the Slaughtered Lamb to tell them, when the manager e-mailed me asking if I could make it the 4th Friday of the month from March onwards instead. So that was a relief.annie wrote:You'll be in Minehead on the 2nd Friday of March!

Edited the above post - no-one will ever know!

A flyer, for those of an Arrested Development persuasion:

Sorry it's a bit massive.
Also, you can now listen to the first of some monthly podcasts, to be recorded with my friend Nick. Ramshackle is not the word. Actually, it is. It's here - http://www.mixcloud.com/yournewfriend/s ... -february/ - and if you want to download it to listen to it ON THE GO, you can do so here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/jfhq65
