19/06 - Leaf Library + Corey Orbison + 2 - Ryans Bar, London
Odd Box is returning to the basement of Ryans Bar for the first time since the wonderful Millipedes launch shows at the tail end of 2009.
This time bringing together an eclectic yet strangely complimentary line up together showcasing all that is great in independent DIY music scene. At any given moment you can expect to hear scratchy guitars, beautiful tunes, drone pop and some nifty tribal rhythms.

The Leaf Library http://www.myspace.com/theleaflibrary
The Leaf Library started out after the demise of guitarist Matt Ashton’s previous band, Peel-favourites Saloon. He and vocalist/keyboardist Kate Gibson were joined by bass player Gareth Jones, guitarist Ben Smith and drummer Lewis Young. With influences that include buildings, stationery and the weather; the band create minimal, melodic songs with a sound that sits comfortably between Stereolab’s two chord drone rock and the stripped-down groove of late 70s Fleetwood Mac.
"A timeless slice of brilliance that leaves you hankering for much more" - Norman Records
"Combines cool vocals with a steady motorik drive. Reminds me of some late '80s Creation stuff, as well as recalling the likes of Stereolab, Unrest, American Analog Set, and Broadcast." - FatCat Records
Corey Orbison http://www.myspace.com/coreyorbison
Urgent. Scratchy. Shredding. Corey Orbison are all these things and more. They were inspired by their friends in the diy-queer-punk-feminist-community. Their songs play upon the themes of treble, celebrity, resistance, loss, community, language, structure, friendship and contrast.
"i always like stuff where it sounds like the band is in the midst of figuring out how to play everything. it starts out pretty straightforward and quickly gets weirder with lots of guitar-destroying squiggles and sounds and slightly off-time tribal drums" - Maximum Rock'n'Roll
Ace Bushy Striptease http://www.myspace.com/acebushystriptease
Ace Bushy Striptease are fantastic and you just have to see them. Their new LP "A Little More Suspicion In Our Fairytales Plz" is just about to be released on Odd Box, too. Live the band are a bundle of nervous energy. Not to be missed.
"Fans of Pavement, Art Brut, Bearsuit and Los Campesinos! will instantly be enthralled" - The Music Fix
Lovelust http://www.myspace.com/lovelust08
Lovelust are a whirlwind of droney noise pop. One of the loudest bands I've ever seen. They don't come to London that often. Think of a heady mix of Spacemen 3, Flying Saucer Attack and some good old fashioned rock n roll.
"A thick slice of psychedelic, filthy, drone music. Splitting at the seams, spurting all sorts of nasties." - Raamb Blog on their Spaced Out EP (Odd Box Records)

The Leaf Library had a fantastic digital single out on Beko records not so long ago ...
Check it out ... it's well worth it and totally free !

Just back from New York and thought I'd remind everyone about this show. It's gonna be a top night so do come along - tickets still for sale in advance and Ryans is only small - so always advisable to get one in advance.
