I'll bite - who or what is Brian Clough and why is there a statue in his hono(u)r?

Probably has something to do with football since you don't have dwarf folk heroes anymore.

Clough must be stood miles in the background.

He was the Nottingham Forest coach many, many years ago, Ashley. Forest fans still dine out on the fact that he won them some trophies 30 years after the event.

Nottingham Forest is football, then. I knew it. More statues of ye olden dayes thieves and no statues of overpayed hobbyists, I say.

In your bedroom last time I saw it. Along with that weird photo montage of me on the ceiling above your bed.

Sam hates Forest. He forgets to mention what a CHARACTER he is and that Forest were (officially) the best team in the world for about two years. True fact. Clough was a big Socialist (sort of) and Mohammed Ali didn't like him. Also facts.

I made this video.

Your math (for the benefit of Ashley) don't add up.

He was also a massive homophobe who bullied Justin Fashanu. Who committed suicide.

Yeah, I wasn't going to mention that. STOP RUINING CLOUGH, or I'll have to ruin Clive Mendonca for you.

Everyone bullied Justin Fashanu. Not because he was gay, but because he was shit.

I'm suddenly sick. How can you stand to live a town where the textile and lace museums are closing and yet statues of (probably) dead football players are exalted?

Your culture and heritage are dying and no one is doing anything about it!

The Nottingham wikipedia entry points out the outside of the new centre for contemporary art (oh yeah) is going to be covered in actual LACE with actual lace PATTERNS on. Plenty of lace for all.

It's up already! At least part of the outer render is. You can see the lace pattern on it. It looks a bit weird. Real lace would've been better.

Apparantly Fashunu only joined Forest for it's "vibrant gay scene". Am I missing something? After he left Forest he joined County, then Brighton, then Los Angeles Heat, so he slowly moved towards that vibrant gay scene he was after. All footballers should follow this career path.
