I'd forgotten how much I like Hull before we went to play there last weekend. It was that long since I'd been there. We had a smashing time!

It was lovely getting the bus over the Humber in the morning as well.

Astrid and I were talking about that today.

I still want to do it, but the further we move away from summer, the less tempting it seems. What do you think?

Maybe we should leave it to the spring. I'd love to do it this year though. My heart says yes, but my brain says "fa-fa-fa-la" and "Pete, you've got probably the busiest three months of your whole life coming up - are you *completely* mental or what, you massive arse-head?"

Wow, your brain is an insult hurling Deirdre's fan. This explains so much.

Spring is fine with me. Picnic!

I think they used to be 'green monsters' or they were when I lived in Hull. Snakebite and blue bols if I remember. Very sweet and lethal. An alcopop before they were invented. Vivid green vomit is not good, but looks impressive/funny to others. Sort of radioactive sick.

I'm back from a brilliant weekend in Hull. What a change. New station! New shopping centre! I really should go back there a little more often. I even found one of the Adelphi flyers in the Ferens.

Hey Hull. Hello. Someone was telling me yesterday that the Adelphi might be closing down. Is that true? Please can you make sure it stays open until I get a chance to see a gig there? Thanks. x

Didn't make any mention of it in the flyer. I think there are always rumours like that but I'll ask anyway. Unless someone else from Hull knows. I was saddened that the Three Tuns was shut.

I've heard nothing about it and it was packed full of people on Saturday, and Paul who runs it seemed to very happy.

I'd be very sad if it closed, it's one of my favourite places in Hull!

Paul's just offered us the chance to run a once a month night, and was beaming on Saturday night / Sunday morning... (and this isn't a coded message that he's been drinking gin in the bath). The place has been packed the last several times I have been there.

So I very much suspect this information is thankfully incorrect. I'll ask around though.

PHEW! In fairness to the source of this dodgy rumour WHOEVER IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN, he probably heard it from someone from Hull who is, if he'd given himself time to think about it, not ENTIRELY reliable. Whoever it was.

If you believed rumours about the Adelphi it's been closing down every six months for the last 20 years, hasn't it?

Hull gets a lot of bad press, some justified and lots of it completely not justified at all......what are peoples experiences of my home town?

Have any of you lot lived, studied or visited and what did you make of it?

Pocketbooks recently played our Diy Hi 5 night and i was amused when reading a blog about the whole evenings events.
It summed up all that's good and bad about the Hull experience.Made me laugh and cringe!

Lived and studied there, initially stuck out at Cottingham but them moved into the city. Have been visiting ever since. I still have very good friends there. Good to see The Adelphi still going. Fantastic new shopping centre next to the bus and railway stations, which have also had great makeovers. I know a lot of money has been pumped in but it makes some other towns and citys look very shabby indeed.

It's alright, int it? I like it here lots. When I came back the other day and went with the taxi from the station, I was all excited! It's so beautiful now down Newland Ave/Prinny Ave and around the uni now that spring is properly here!

I went to Hull loads of times when I was about 18 to see bands and go to clubs and I always had a total blast. Then I didn't go for years and years, until last autumn, when I went to play a gig with that there Rocky Nest, and once again I had a total blast.

I'm sure there is that scuzzier side of Hull that people talk about, but I've not really experienced it. Or maybe I have but I didn't notice because I grew up in Grimsby.

We're really looking forward to having you up this way again Pete, you and the juggernaut going to be staying at ours and going for a bite to eat the next day?

I really do like Hull... it definitely does not deserve the reputation it's got.
