Heh, I walk past Disc discovery every day but I haven't been in for yee-ars.... maybe I should.

I recently wrote a tribute about the landlord at the sailmakers, as he died... which was sad. I hope the pub somehow stays as lovely as it already is.

Aww that's sad about the landlord. We used to play their pub quiz every week and once won lots of easter eggs. yum. They were always really friendly to us despite us being students which was nice!

I took Astrid and her sister in there the other day before we went to Hitchcocks, so Hedvig was in at least one pub while she was visiting. After all, it is tradition.

I'm looking forward to the Spring Bank Tav being done up, I think it's going to be really nice.

Any idea what happened to the Adelphi? It seemed to be a staple port of call for bands some years back.
It's so easy when the door is wide open.

Ah, I love that place. It's still there and live music is still the order of the day. Good place to book fora gig, that.

very true. He's been having a right old time with the smoking ban. There's a resident nearby who keeps telling the council people are too noisy when stepping out for some "fresh air."

Hey, come for a visit any time.

Actually I was thinking about driving over the bridge at some point. Don't know if you'd fancy meeting up for a tea or a (soft) drink or something.

We're considering availing ourselves of the beer garden at The Queens in a bit, if any Hullites are online now and fancy sipping drinks in the sunshine.

Anyone else been in the newly done up Spring Bank Tavern yet... It's ace.

Who fancies meeting there for a jar at some point this weekend?

What have they done to it? I think I went there only a couple of times on my youth. I seem to remember a lot of barrels acting as tables.
Is there love in the sound of a closing door?

Lots of work to make it undingy, but also to keep it pub-like and not like something you'd find down prinny Ave.

The couple who have the lease are lovely and have some really nice plans.

It's now no longer brown and like the inside of a 40-a-day-over-40-years lung.

It also now has a beer garden, which is where the fire-wagons were kept at Hull's first fire station.

The music is mostly good, the prices are reasonable, and they have bar billiards, which confuses the hell out of me, but It's probably fun once you understand it.

I fancy taking a trip there when I visit in the summer then. Fancy it? Well of course, you only live about near minutes away from it.

Sounds good... when are you going to be back here?

It better not be any of the time while we are in Stockholm... that would be awful.
