I'd be tempted if it wasn't for that pesky Mothering Sunday, Rich!

Would anyone in Southampton like to form a band?

I made this "song" in hope of sparking some kind of interest.
http://soundcloud.com/sam_ayres1/song1
I guess it kind of outlines the sort of sound i like and what i might be able to do

I'm at university here, so since i have nothing to do i figured i'd devote all my time to making music!
Anyway you can message me here or e-mail me at... sam_ayres1@hotmail.com

Sorry I haven't posted for a while - a combination of being extremely busy at work, and the home PC crashing loads. I'm not even lurking on Anorak at the moment :-(

Right, it's obvious I didn't go to the Thomas Tantrum gig Rich! I loved their first album, but when they supported the Vivian Girls, I thought their new set of songs were weak. Have they improved in the last year, or have they stuck with the lesser songs for their new album?

As for Crystal Stilts, they were tree-mendous! Absolutely blew me away, but then I've been playing all their stuff on heavy rotation for yonks. Great band! The turnout was very poor (only around 25), but despite that, they kept up their good humour, where some bands might have been a bit snide about the tiny crowd. They gave it their all, as did the support band - some goths called Suicide Party. They were fun to watch, with their singer thinking he was playing to a stadium. The promoters must have made a big loss on the night, but I had a cracking time.

To save posting on the "Sun Shines..." thread as well, I may not make it after all on Friday Rich, due to home circumstances, but if I can, I shall.

And Sam...have The Notes split up, or are you hoping to form a second band?

I only have a couple of THOMAS TANTRUM 7"s so am not really familiar with there stuff outside of seeing them live. I enjoyed their set last Saturday a heck of a lot more than the one at VIVIAN GIRLS & the atmosphere in the Joiners was brilliant. MONTAGE POPULAIRE were good too - love the trumpet!

Gutted about CRYSTAL STILTS. I know I saw them with THE BATS 2 years ago but I like the 2nd LP a hell of a lot more than I did the debut so I am sure they are even better live now. Shame about the turnout but I guess as they played the Wedge the night after no one from Pompey would have come up. I did try & drum up some interest & would have done more if I had been able to go myself.

Hope you can make it on Friday Andy. The next one after this isn't until Friday August 26th as I am on holiday in early August

Well THE NOTES are still a new band - you've not even played in Southampton yet! ;)
If you are looking for a bass or guitar player you should ask Iain Mayfield.
