Sounds painful Rich! We got to see 13 full sets and a few snatches of other bands...Joe Black, Dolomite Minor, Protein Window, Tyrannosaurus Dead, Red Seals, Playlounge, Wet Nuns, Crushed Beaks, a pop-punk band who may have been Doctrines, Veronica Falls, Pariso, Anamanaguchi, Future of the Left...I think that was it!

At least 11 of that lot were at least very good, with a few verging on awesome. Highlights were Dolomite Minor, who sounded like the big stage was made for their Southampton-based tales of cruising through the desert (ooh, hark at me sounding like a professional journalist...); T Dead, like Dinosaur Jr on 78rpm throughout their entire 30 minute set - I very nearly moshed (but not quite); Playlounge, who Rocked with a capital R; Veronica Falls - it seemed odd that they were on such a huge stage - I'd rather they were upstairs at the Social, but they played all their "hits" anyway (big smiles from me); then the last three were all noisy and brill - I had a wine glass thrown in my direction during Pariso's set - it glanced off my face and hit the huge bloke behind me - never seen so much blood at a gig before, it was everywhere - chaos, but flipping heck, they were good; Anamanaguchi was rammed and sweaty and moshy; FotL were just superb.

Tired but happy by the end. What a day! Thanks for all the suggestions - I may have missed Playlounge in particular without them.

BOB are playing a free in-store show at Pie & Vinyl in Southsea next Friday (13th June) 6.30pm! I won't be there myself, but others may be interested in this. The La Sera, Martha, Fear Of Men vinyl LPs all on sale there earlier today, amongst many other good things.

Hiya, Paulette! Welcome back! It would be lovely to see you at one of these gigs - not sure which ones I'll be at, but we can message each other on here and work things out.

As for the Engine Rooms...it's an ex-garage, I think. Big and full of exposed pipes. It was a roller skating emporium before the makeover - you can see the roller skates behind the bar. To be honest, it could still be a roller skating arena when there's no gigs on, I don't know. The stage is in the middle of the room and is high enough so that even little people can see the bands. The capacity must be around the 500 mark, I should think...maybe more. The big disadvantage with the place is the bar, which only sells beer in cans, and at £4 a can, it's London/Brighton prices. I would recommend getting a few down your neck in Bugle Street pre-gig if you're going (a 10 minute walk away).
