well, barring the fact that i know virtually nothing about london, i'm hoping that
a) leicester square is somewhere near central london
b) that there really is a place called the jean cocteau there
c) that it is a coffee shop

just so that you can tell the person you're meeting:
"meet me at the jean cocteau in leicester square" for a laff

if it's actual USEFUL ADVICE you're looking for, i'm afraid i'm not your man, your woman, or even your vole

The Birmingham thread seems a lot more cuddly than the London thread, so I'm going to go out on a limb and try something crazy...

How is everyone?

Did you have a good weekend?

Pretty much the same, boring weekend, but pretty pleasant. Disappointed that there wasn't much going on in terms of gigs and dancing discos.

It's at the Bush Hall. It's probably the last time they play in London seeing as they're calling it a day, so I am going.

And there's Club 8 on Thursday and the two gigs on Saturday. Hardc0re.

I'm needing a nice restaurant in central London that's kind of open on Sunday evenings to take a girl to. Or is such a thing an imaginary beast, what with it being Sunday an all.

There's a "square" of fooderies off oxford street and there's alovely meditteraneany restaurant there. Aint to pricy and the food is fab. Can't remember it's name but think it begins with an A.

Theres tickets on sale from all the usual vendors for a Cud gig, which is really not that exciting, but it's at the Garage. Which is far more exciting.

I've just got all nostalgic for the gigs i've seen there over the years.. I'm very much looking forward to someone good playing to go check out the refit.

I had a mighty fine kebab in Sheperds Bush last night, kebab and chips drenched in chilli and garlic sauces. Being drunk's great

Speaking of London and food - where are the best curry houses down Brick Lane?

I've had curries twice at places along it and they've both been a touch disappointing, but there must be somewhere good along it because it seems to have a reputation for good curry?
And by me, I mean, Flexo.

Not exactly Brick Lane, but i've recently become converted to the wonders of the Jashan in Turnpike Lane.. Everyone in London should go, they don't have an official website, but heres a few comments (ignore the 1 star one of course)

http://www.london-eating.co.uk/5880.htm

I don't really like Brick Lane for curries, its just too intense, walking down and being hassled by everyone to come in, curry houses are always busy and as you say, the food is always disappointing.
