Missed it! We did notice everything had gone yellow but I didn't look out because it was during in the getting Ralph ready for bed trauma.

Yes! We did! Our living room had this really eerie glow about it. I was convinced it was about to thunder,
"I don't know who you're talking about..."

I've been for a walk around Tinsley Marina today. Did anyone else know it existed? I've put some photos here: http://www.tonieee.co.uk/2013/04/28/tinsley-marina/

I didn't know about it until I saw your blogpost earlier on today! Brilliant. We should go. No pubs round there though are there?

Not as far as I know. I've probably made it sound nicer than it is but it is a nice spot hidden away in a rubbish area. I think the canal in general is kind of unknown by a lot of people. It might be nice to do a walk along the whole canal to Rotherham and then we could have a pint in the Bridge Inn and catch the train back to Sheffield.

Oh yeah, forgot you were in the Bridge on Saturday. Nice pub. What were you doing over there? Have they made the toilets not horrible yet?

It was Jo's friend Steve's 50th birthday. I liked it in there. The toilets seemed alright to me. Dan's dad told me he sang a song with the Housemartins in them.

Nice pictures of the Canal near my Sheffield house walked past some of these places hundreds of times

Looks nicer then when I was last down there always looks so much better once spring has sprung
There are no pubs between Attercliffe and Rotherham
The Bridge toilets don't seem to be as smelly recently

It does get a bit bleak around your house. Have you walked along the bit after it joins the Don? Does it get nicer again?

I've always wondered what The Kingfisher in Rotherham is like. An Old Mill pub.

Been there a couple of times before football at Millmoor. I really liked it. Nice crowd, decent pint.

NO!

The happeny bridge is good then a nice bit of path and under a railway bridge
Then there is the sewage works which can be really smelly and watch out for a leaky overhead pipe
After the sewage works there is an old cut of canal which can really stink
You can often see trains from this bit
Then the rest of the way to Rotherham is ok
Takes me half an hour from mine to Rotherham
If you ate with Ralph make sure you he doesn't fall in the water
I'd recommend doing it one-way and get bus or train otherway
The sewage works can be interesting in a loads of grim concrete way

I can't come tomorrow because Jo's going out with her niece but I'll mention it to her.

hey!

im in a new band called elopes and you can hear us here: www.elopes.bandcamp.com and you can see us with just handshakes were british on 25th may at the hadfield and also supporting martha on june 8th at audacious :D hopefully by then we will have more than 3.5 songs, hopefully.

..and on june 1st you should all come see loads of amazing stuff happening at the hidden perspectives fest at the workstation, including an evening party by ladiy with onsind, elly kingdon, andrew lips and sophia pettit. SWOON!

also, being so terribly out of touch with indiepop things happening, when would be a good time to do a daisydaisy alldayer to celebrate my tenth birthday?? has anyone helpfully put together any kind of indiepop calendar yet with all the popfests and whatnot?

xxx
i said OK! the wind said no

There's Vinnie and Markie's thing at the Rutty on June 29th, and MMIS have got several normal popshows in the pipeline.

Sad to report that there will be no Weekender this year. I was struggling to get bands (I had 5 out of 16 booked), and we were clashing with an alldayer in London too. My next few weeks while I recover from this injury will be stressful enough, so I decided I didn't need the added stress of trying to sort out a weekender.

I might keep the acoustic bands and just do a popshow at the Rutty on the Sunday. That's generally pretty stress free.

Ooh, this sounds exciting. I might have to have me some of that.

Also considering coming up for the Just Handshakes show.

I haven't decided definitely on either of them. If any kind Sheffield can offer me a sofa to crash on for an evening, that might help sway my decision.
