Have you HEARD the Five Live commentary? Jesus. It's like being back in 1982.

I've got the snooker on TV and I'm watching the football using Guardian Football's live text commentary. It's more like being back in 1992.

Heh!

No idea whether we played any good, but England are never any good at doing a holding defensive kind of tactic, so I'm not really surprised by what happened. With the players we have it's better to just go shit or bust.

I can sit here smug in the knowledge that we were the only British team to win last night. We showed those San Marinans how to sneak a cheeky away win!
Germany away soon. I might actually cry...

I dunno which news is the more astounding: that Bolton wanted Gary Megson as their new manager or that Leicester said no.

It's clearly an elaborate joke. Both Bolton and Leicester are slapping five and giggling at fooling us all with such an amusing jape.

Surely?

Who are everyone's teams playing tomorrow then? Who's actually off to the match?

Town are away at Wycombe. I'm not going. It'll be a dull old Saturday. Meh.

How can it be dull, Pete? Surely you'll have all the chaps round to play drinking games and then set fire to each others testicles before you watch the Rugby?

Hmm. You might be right.

We're off to Lincoln to walk up and down Steep Hill and say, for the 489th time in my life, "Y'know, I think it's worse going downhill than walking up it."

Downhill *batters* your knees.

Town better start winning soon. It's getting silly now.

Me and Mark are thinking of not going to Rotherham in a couple of weeks cos it's stupidly expensive. £18 in advance or £20 on the gate!

We're away to Altrincham, should be an easy 3 points, but we'll probably lose 3-0 or something.

I would go, but a/ i don't even know where Altrincham is, and b/ Stars of Aviation are playing tomorrow afternoon at Notting Hill.

I only have 2 more home games i can go to this year, and one of them at the moment is only a maybe.
and that snare drum, that drum roll
means we've got a winner

It's near Manchester, innit. Frank Sidebottom supported them. I think he had a song in their honour, called 'The Robins Aren't Bobbins'.

He wasn't funny at all actually, was he?

Won't he have breached David Beckham's patent with that one? Could be expensive.

It's 15 minutes into our game with Wycombe and this is the full extent of the BBC text commentary so far:
0:33
Attacking throw-in by Shaleum Logan (Grimsby).

0:24
Attacking throw-in by Shaleum Logan (Grimsby).
Kind of an uneventful game, then.

It could've stayed like that for me.

We need a win. Badly.

Italian club punished for cheating hires expensive lawyer and has punishment reduced to token gesture.
The Milan goalkeeper Dida has had his ban following the Champions League defeat at Celtic reduced by Uefa on appeal to one match.

Dida was initially handed a two-match suspension earlier this month after he feigned injury following a Celtic fan's encroachment on to the pitch during the 2-1 loss at Celtic Park. The Brazilian was stretchered off with an ice-pack on his face after receiving what in reality was little more than a brush on his collarbone.

But the club confirmed that the appeal had been partially upheld, meaning Dida will miss only Wednesday's game against Shakhtar Donetsk. "The decision was reached, after the discussion, based on an agreement between the parties," confirmed Milan's lawyer Leandro Cantamessa.

The 27-year-old supporter who invaded the field has since been arrested and banned for life by Celtic.
Now where have we come across that storyline before?

He's just about keeping a lid on it for now, but when Jens Lehmann finally blows up it's going to be one of the best things ever.
Lehmann declared: "It could be that at some point I feel like commenting on the whole issue, but right at the moment I just accept everything as part of the humiliation. You have to let it happen.

"But I think - and this is directed towards my dear coach - that you should not humiliate players for too long. I am an Arsenal player and I will not just fade away quietly."

Lehmann insisted: "I am convinced I will soon be playing again. Almunia hasn't shown that he can win us matches just yet. I have been through this situation once and know how the other keeper is situated mentally. I can't imagine he will handle this.

"Wenger has spoken of three world-class goalies. I guess I must be one of them. The others have proven their class by winning titles? I'm just thinking about it, and I can't recall any. But yet today they are considered world class."
