I think this is the saddest, most poignant football tweet I've ever read.

https://twitter.com/#!/S111LKV/status/1 ... 4283070464

Coulson and Duffy have just been released by Grimsby. Silk hasn't. Their little gang is destroyed.

Macclesfield Town finally delivered the relegation they have been promising for a fair old while yesterday.
Don't much fancy our chances in the BSP either. Club seems utterly lacking in spirit and desire. The decision to bring back Brian Horton failed miserably and most depressingly of all we seem to be inflicted with a vocal pocket of EDL followers who spent a chunk of yesterdays game partaking in anti Polish chants and towards the end attempted to storm the directors box where our Iraqi owners were seated.

Falling out of love with football just a little bit.

I don't think it's wise for qpr to ever claim the moral high ground, we're as tainted as any other premiership club and probably worse but, yeh, I see your point (speaking of points I'd love the r's to get a point today but that's not going to happen, I think we're fucked)

Commiserations with posed_by_models there. I would tell you it gets easier but it doesn't. You're non-League for at least five years and don't let any optimistic fool tell you any different.

Yesterday at Blundell Park the teenagers in Lynx and shellsuits (yeah, still) couldn't even be bothered with their traditional last-day pitch invasion. I hate it when they do that. But I hate it even more when they don't.

cheers pete

I know I know I know that even if we do get relegated we're still in a better position than most financially (even if we still have the existing wage bill) but I'd rather we were run on pence and promises but had played and won with enough style and spirit and grit that neutrals would say 'qpr, didn't deserve to go down, shame' rather than what I'm expecting which will be 'they deserve to go down, proof if proof be needs be that you can't buy success, wankers' (most likely from man city and chelsea fans)

I wish we were stoke

Is it me, or has this season seemed even longer than usual?

Also, I know the callers to 606 are easy to lampoon, but tonight's selection were beyond words.

REASONS I WILL NOT BE RENEWING MY SEASON TICKET, AFTER GETTING ONE EVERY YEAR SINCE 2004
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Our pre-match pub, the Rutland Arms in Grimsby, has recently declined in mood from lugubrious to suicidal; the beer has declined from indifferent to poor; the service has declined from indifferent to poor

The stewards at Blundell Park are now under orders to confiscate food being brought into the ground; I leave the house at about 10:30am to get to Saturday games and hence am a bit peckish by mid-afternoon; no vegetarian food can be bought inside Blundell Park

I probably miss at least five of the 23 home games a season through family commitments, illness, Christmas, and just not being able to summon up the will to go out to night matches in the depths of winter

Next season in the Conference ends ridiculously early (20 April - because, ridiculously, of the 'Champions' League final being at Wembley several weeks later), which will mean even more night matches in the depths of winter

More contemptuous treatment by the club of John Tondeur, Radio Humberside reporter, voice of the fans and all-round good egg extraordinaire

Just the signs on the shops while I'm walking down the Grimsby Road make me sad and angry and tired as hell; just the reminder of how bad my hometown is at doing anything at all well; even something as simple as this is completely fucking half-arsed and wrong

GTFC play music over the PA when the team scores a goal

You'll get one...

Can't help but think that Hodgson will be crucified by the London press now that they're man seemingly hasn't got the job. Not that UI give two shits about the England team, but I'm not sure Hodgson deserves all that shit, does he?

I'm sure he'll take my concern on board before making his decision.

I accept this completely. We have been non-League for far longer than the fifteen years we have spent in the football league. If anything we have returned to our natural level.

My problem is mostly that we used to be a family club but increasingly there seems to be a chunk of supporters intent on causing embarrassment and promoting hatred. That's not anything I want to be associated with. Ever.

On the plus side for you.. 6 points guaranteed for Grimsby next season!

What's the finances at Macclesfield like? I'm trying to work out who'll be the next Crawley/Fleetwood in the Conference next year. The last two years have hardly been a level playing field. In the other leagues that play 46 games we'd have been very close to the play offs, but with Fleetwood and Wrexham winning so many games, it's stretched the league massively. Not that Wrexham have much money, of course...

Forest Green are rumoured to be chucking some money at it, aren't they?

The finances at Macclesfield go under the category of just about scraping by.

We have been forced to sell our best players (mainly to Peterborough) recently and have relied on non league replacements on the cheap to take their place.
We have a lad called Hewitt who Chelsea were reportedly interested in towards the start of the season. Nothing much said since then, mind

Needless to say there is no danger of us doing a Crawley/Fleetwood/etc
