I'm thinking of joining a badminton club

Does anyone else play? Is it an easy sport to pick up? Does the word 'shuttlecock' ever stop being funny?

i think a couple of years ago we a few of us tried to book ourselves a badminton court at the local leisure centre. however we couldn't due to the fact they were holding a beer festival there instead. i took this as a sign from a higher being and now i am fatter, less toned, with a useless underdeveloped wrist but am probably happier IN MY SELF.

why does everyone exercise for fun nowadays? i've always found exercise to be a sign of moral turpitude. it's base and it's ugly.
When the people are being beaten with a stick, they are not much happier if it is called 'the People's Stick.'

I'm not normally the sporty kind myself, to be honest. It's just that my friend's boyfriend runs the club and they need more members. And it gives me an excuse to wear my lovely bright red trousers again. Stare at them for too long and you go blind

I used to play with my father (he's 59) up until about 6 months ago. Because we're both quite busy we haven't played in a while. I love badders though and shoulod start playing again.

It's a fantastic sport for fitness, but not really for losing weight or toning. It's very easy to pick up and improve quickly if you play at least once a week. The first time I played I was absolutely fucked after about 10 minutes and in a world of pain for about 3 days after it which pretty much summed up my level of fitness. I also found it to be tremendous for on-court 'mind games' too, as you try to feign shots to put your opponent off.

Me and me dad are pretty equally matched so it made for some brilliant games of badminton and we both benefitted. You don't really get the same out of it if you play someone who's miles better or worse than you I think.

Oh, and if you're a beginner, stick to dead light shatcocks until you're able to hit from baseline to baseline without too much fuss.
Fuck your tea room.

Excellent! Thanks for the advice.

I'll be going with a friend who's as sportily inept as I am, so we'll be beginners together.
