Sarah & Duck (quack!)

Post by crystalball » Wed Mar 27, 2013 8:22 am

Too much...?

Image

Here are two of my favourite episodes so far:

'Woolen Music' from last week: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... len_Music/

and yesterday's magnificent 'Ribbon Sisters' which I suspect was written by tonieee: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... n_Sisters/

Anyway, carry on.

Quite annoyed that Ralph claims he's too old to watch cbeebies now! Instead we get an endless stream of Pokemon and Pokemon derivatives!

It's great to know that our kids will have some top-quality TV to look back on and reminisce about when they're having nostalgic drunken conversations in the middle of the night sometime in 2028.

Today, right, I noticed for the first time that in the Big Shop episode, there's a massive Elephant and Castle monument! How ace is that.

And that's what I like about it so, so much: this attention to detail. And the amazing things Sarah says. And the way Rainbow greets them. And just how pretty it is! Dora loves it now as well. My biggest achievement as a parent will be brainwashing. Great.

Oh look, I found a picture of the thing:

It's been ever so lovely so far!
SpoilerShow
And it's always such a delight to catch a glimpse of duck's boat-train in the bathroom.

I'm amazed that I've not posted in this thread yet.

Sarah & Duck is so lovable. The attention to detail and the little touches that make their world feel so interesting and - this is the really important consequence of that - explorable.

For example, I've got a S&D picture on my desktop where they're using a zebra crossing. The window of the shop behind them has stools, windmills, some sort of little green things, and lemons in it. That would be an amazing shop for them to go into yet I'm not sure they ever will, but it's the fact that that they quite easily could.

I love the little conversations between Sarah and the narrator too.
And by me, I mean, Flexo.

I've just noticed that another shop in the background sells stairs! There are little sets of stairs in the window! Amazing.

I love that the sleepy bike shop person had Bradley Wiggins sideburns.

Sarah & Duck are now also on Dutch television (as 'Sarah & Eend'), so I've had my first peek. Lovely!

For some reason I think it would work beautifully well in Dutch. Perhaps it's the vowels.

The creator/writer of Sarah & Duck favourited one of my tweets the other night. I can die happy.

Today, apparently! Not that I obsessively read all the updates, you understand.
