Mamma Mia is still at #2 in the UK box-office after 10 weeks; is still making over £1million a week after 10 weeks; and has made a total of over £60million - £12million more than the all-conquering Dark Knight. Britain likes itself some Abba.

I watched Ang Lee's Hulk last night. It was really good for like the first 3/4 and then all of a sudden everything was bitchass crazy. And that's saying something about a film whose protaganist turns into a 12-foot green monster when he's testy.
Q: I know you are, but what am I?
A: A garbage man.

What's the most indie pop/twee film?

I'd say Garden State.

I like that movie alot, well, apart from the end which is really stupid, but i thought it was a refreshing angle on a comic book film and doesnt deserve all the negative opinions of it.

Then again, i pretty much love everything Ang Lee has done. I think i'm a fanboy.

I was listening to Adam and Joe the other week, and Joe had gone to see it - apparently the film closes with a(nother) big showpiece song and dance routine, at the end of which Meryl Streep breaks the invisible wall and turns to the camera and says "do you want another?!". At which point the audience screamed "YEEES!". Ugh. I'm definitely emigrating. It wouldn't be like that in France...there'd be more shagging in it, for a start.

My brother works in a cinema in York, and he was saying they have special karaoke showings of it. With the red bouncing ball along the bottom of the screen, and everything. He says the audience are on their feet throughout. Freaks.

Oh lighten up! At least it's not bloody Titanic.

I went to see it in Sweden with my mum and sister, and yes, it was super silly but fun. Everyone gave an applause at the end which was kind of stupid, but I guess people got patriotic.

While I would never, ever, go see the/a musical, I enjoyed the film on a cheesy fun basis.

I ended up seeing it with some friends here, just because I wanted to see them but that was hte only date we could all make, but yeah, I even enjoyed it a SECOND time.

The bit at the end is only when the credits roll and they goof about. It's stupid and just mocks the original ABBA costumes.

Now, what was annoying was that TV3 in Sweden for many many years seemed to show only the film 'Twins' every weekend at several points. Cinema stuff you can easily avoid.

Has anyone seen Red Roses and Petrol? I have free passes to it and a I can't decide if looks completely terrible or not. I hate Malcolm McDowell in pretty much everything aside from Clockwork and that time machine movie with Mary Steenbergin. When he was on that episode of Law & Order (CI?), I wanted to kick him in the nuts.

I do indeed! I have PRE-ORDERED THE DVD BONUS EXTRA SPECIAL MEGA SEXANDTHECITYATHON on Amazon already. Yeah. Take that.

But seriously, I think there have been far more shit films that have been out and popular for this long. Though I was 12 at the time and could not help the Leo DiCaprio love, Titanic AND Celine Dion warbling My Heart Will Go On surely was much worse?

I'm going to see Mamma Mia with my Swedish friend because it's at the cheap theater that serves beer. Oh, and I freakin' love ABBA. I dunno, there was slim pickins' for decent pop music in the 70s after the Jackson5's balls dropped.

'malcolm mcdowell is my idol, carol white and tom courteney'

malcolm mcdowell is officially brilliant and dead skill in:

if... (as mick travis)
o, lucky man (as mick travis)
britannia hospital (as mick travis)
a clockwork orange
royal flash
caligula (coming out uncut on dvd soon! yippee!)
time after time (where he plays hg wells on the time travelling trail of jack the ripper in modern day- well late-seventies- san francisco)
our friends in the north (on tv)

he's made a lot of shite, admittedly, but he's still one of britain's top and most eccentric turns

I dig him

I haven't seen that 'red roses and petrol', it could well be shit, it was made in 2003... to it's credit it has the magnificent aubrey morris in it- who iz da bomb- he was the delightfully sinister and fruity p.r. deltoid in clockwork orange

however, max beesley's in it and he's an absolute shower of shit

Remind me what that film's central theme is again, Astrid?

We need to wrestle over this. In a ring.

Wait, who am I wrestling? You or Cedric?

Since I cried about 90 times watching it, I would say it is about more than shopping. I don't cry over handbags (often.) To me the central theme was being able to hang out and have time for your friends even when you are busy with careers or family or both. One character does shit herself though, that is very, very funny. OH and it's about how important it is to not become a vapid Bridezilla and get wrapped up in Vogue and fancy ideas about a crazy big wedding, as it will only equal unhappiness with your partner or break you up. True dat.

I think SATC is one of those things that you either really, really love and relate to and enjoy or thoroughly hate and despise and think stands for all things stupid.

A bit like me, really!
