Re: The Football

I'm watching Sky Sports News. They've got a reporter outside the High Court and they're flashing up hypothetical league tables based on if Portsmouth go into administration or liquidation. They're really struggling not to sound joyfully excited about the whole thing. Surely they stay bottom either ...

Re: London is great

where did andy's post go? It was good! I'm just looking through the Museum of London stuff, slightly put off by selecting 20th Century has brought up a pic described as 'c1880'. Trying to gather some thoughts about what it is I'm actually after, and where I would find, and a bit of why would it exis...

Re: London is great

Actually, I'm kind of obsessed with this idea, I'm sure there must be some sort of archive of good quality photos just of everyday London from the last 40yrs or so somewhere, I just don't really know where I would look for it. I was thinking about this once when I was in the Old Blue Last, and wonde...

Re: London is great

They're not photos apparently, just really good captures from films and Sweeney episodes. Great stuff though, fire them up every other week when I'm bored.

Re: Shitty music journalism

Nuclear Holiday was alright. Weren't 18 Wheeler introduced by Tony Blair as "The next Oasis" at one point? That's got to be the nail in your bands coffin. They were actually introduced as Wheeler 18 at the time, which is possibly an even bigger name when the PM (elect?) gets your name wrong and you...

Re: Cymraeg

I learnt Welsh as a first language, although I didn't speak much of it outside school, and not even that much at school. There's hardly any left now, although by the time I'd finished typing that first post (with the help of geiriadur.net) bits were coming back, although I was occasionally trying to...

Does gen I dim meddylion am ddatganoli, mae'n ddrwg gen I.

Re: Music small talk, music big talk

Andy 'not that one' Gill's albums of the year was the only one I've seen so far that had none of the Dirty Grizzly Animal Collection in it, and had a few things I've never even heard of in. Nothing I was particularly interested in hearing tbh, but still, makes a change.

Yeah, I thought 70 seemed a bit young, but I couldn't be bothered opening his wiki page again to check.

Halles of HighBerry Stuart Hall-esque. Very good.

Just like Sarah Cracknell and Tim Burgess, Stuart Hall was born on Christmas Day, and will turn 70 on Friday week.

It might be tricky tying in the actual James Bond car to football, but I'm sure he can do it.

If you really want to check for clashes you want these:

MBV: http://www.iwantwintergreen.com/MBVATP.pdf

10YRS: http://www.iwantwintergreen.com/10YRATP.pdf

subject to changes and stuff.

2 hours of Mars Volta. Oh, the humanity.

Re: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

It is kind of boring, I think, but in a good way! Like, Low or something. Maybe something for the boring indie thread, but I can't remember if that was for good music that just is a bit boring like Low or Teenage Fanclub or something, or whether it was for crap music in general.. Gah, I hate writing...

I think the 'meh'ness is part of what makes the xx album so great. Definitely one of the best new things I've heard this year, and really annoyed with myself for not seeing them.

Hello! I had it on recently and was quite surprised at how well time had treated it. I'm actually looking forward to seeing them at MBVATP.
