Re: Battlestar Galactica

I'm on course to finish season 2 this weekend... I'm glad to hear nothing's as good as BSG, I'm worried at the time its consuming. I can only compare it to reading a really great unputdownable book. I didn't think tv would ever compete with reading, but I'm sacrificing reading time (and various more...

Re: Battlestar Galactica

Just finished season one. I had plans for the Easter holiday, but I also have seasons 2, 3 and 4 ready and waiting. Slightly off topic, are a lot of tv shows this good nowadays? Last time I had a tv I saw the first season of Lost and really enjoyed it but thought that was the only thing worth watchi...

Re: Iceland

I heard they spend money looking out for elves when they build new roads and things in Iceland, similar to the way we treat rare newts here. Apparently if you build a road through elf territory they don't like it and play tricks causing delays and accidents.

Re: Battlestar Galactica

I've just seen the first mini - series and am preparing for a couple of months of hermitting from now on. It had me gripped for the whole three hours, except when I had to pause it to pace around the flat in excitement.

Re: ATP 2009

i've heard a rumour that the breeders atp has been moved to camber sands, does anyone know if that's true? I can't find anything on the interweb to say it is. I'd consider going to it if it was though. I can't believe it would be true... It would really inconvenience me - I'm working away in the de...

Re: The Football

I know I bang on about MLS, despite nobody been interested in the slightest, but I stayed up to watch Seattle's first ever game (they've existed since the 70's in various forms) in MLS against New York last night and it was one of those perfect games. Pure high-tempo end to end adrenaline fuelled f...

Don't actually own a DJ right enough. Maybe i can get one in Burtons cheap. Or just wear a nice suit.
I'd check this site - it's been fuelling my ferrero rochet on silver platter fantasies...

Re: Gentleman's Boutique

whats the drill for a cocktail party? is it a tuxedo job or just suited and booted? I never get the chance to wear a DJ, so I'd go for that if you've got one- you can never be overdressed! I don't own a dinner jacket, but I'd like to. And I'd like to be invited to fancy do's where they're required,...

Re: shoes!

It's been dire ever since I can remember. I used to go shoe shopping, not be able to find anything and get another pair of DMs. Now I go shoe shopping, can't find anything and get another pair of chelsea boots. Most men's shoes come in one of three kinds of DO NOT WANT: Ass-ugly winkle pickers Ass-...

Re: Manbags

Any thoughts on man bags? I carry a bag of some sort most of the time, but don't have one suitable for carrying with a nice suit. I was looking at some but it was a horrific experience – they're all far too big, too chunky, or terribly vulgar with logos and zips everywhere. I just want a nice sleek...

Re: haruki murakami

I just read Julian Cope's 'Japrocksampler', which gives a lot of social history of Japan in the 60's and adds useful background material for Murakami's stuff. The biography of the early life of J. A. Caesar must have been a big influence on Murakami.

That would have got me going to London, shame I'm at ATP. I'll be keeping an eye out for any other dates though.

Re: Gentleman's Boutique

My top tip of the moment is that M&S are doing made to measure shirts on line. This is great news if you're not a completely regular shape (which is the majority of people). I've tried it and was happy with the result - every other shirt I've bought has either been too short in the arm, too tight at...

I bought a uke in october when I h...

My first ever cd was a compilation of indie hits, my second was Smash the system - the so far best of St Etienne. Any song by St Etienne transports me back to my freezing cold box room and the portable cd player I got for Christmas 1995 like magic. I'm going to give tales from turnpike house a liste...

i've gone a bit suit daft recently. some lovely surprise finds in the charities and on ebay have seen my suit collection more than double in size for not too much financial expenditure. the most recent one was an original late 60's suit that was still new, never worn. Its a beezer, lovely wool, sub...

Eek! I've been completely skint since August, may be back on track by December - I'm fed up of not going anywhere then and things selling out. I think I'm one of the few people who prefers the glitz of Minehead over the soul of Camber Sands too. I got the chalet on credit card last time, so maybe s...
