Re: what book are you reading?

I'm reading Infinite Jest, by David Foster Wallace. This is quite the undertaking, really. For the last few years, I've been struggling to read literary fiction - initially it was because of my MA 2011-13), and then because some crappy stuff happened and I lost all ability to focus. In the last few ...

Re: Game of Thrones

Don't get me wrong, I think Tyrion's actions were totally explained in the context of the show. I don't. I think missing that bit out from the book made it a lot weaker and less convincing. Similarly, the difference between Tyrion and Shae's relationship on screen makes everything that happened bet...

Re: The Give It Ups

Quick update for those that care (i.e. Murray. Maybe.) The Give It Ups are no more, but we are in a couple of new bands, which is twice as fun right? PAMS are H's new band, along with two of the Sock Puppets and one of Bracelettes. They're absolutely awesome, and once they're all in the same country...

Cat Smell

I'm in a new band with Jess and Russo from the Give It Ups and Mads from Sock Puppets. We're called Cat Smell, and we recorded our first songs last week, which we've put up for a short period on our Bandcamp page - http://catsmell.bandcamp.com/releases - to see what people think. We're *almost* gig ...

Re: Game of Thrones

I'm not sure if this has been posted here before: "How Dothraki, a language in HBO's Game of Thrones, was created to be as nuanced as any natural language:" http://blog.ted.com/2013/03/29/meet-david-peterson-who-developed-dothraki-for-hbos-game-of-thrones/ This guy's a hero! Next time someone asks ...

Sorry Trev. I had been planning on coming along but realised too late that there were no trains to Dalston.

January Pub Club Alert... We're all tired, we're all a bit skint and we're all bit discouraged. But that's no reason to not hug the people you love. and other pubclubbers With a nod to Saturday Popfest at the 100 club not happening this year, I'm picking a Sam Smith's pub because it's cheaper than ...

Re: Running

Thanks Silvergirl. Because I'm mostly off work at the moment, I've been running along the Thames Path from Wapping - London Bridge - Rotherhithe (about 6km). My plan is to extend my run each week by crossing at the next bridge (Southwark, Millennium, Blackfriars, Waterloo). I think Wapping - Waterlo...
