Re: Panini Football Sticker Swapsies. Anyone?

Favourite sticker? Well, if it's funny names, then Carlos Costly was the one I really wanted. I thought he sounded just the type of player that would sign for Wigan or Birmingham...and sure enough, I looked him up on the 'net, and he has actually played for Brum. Waldo Ponce is another favourite. Co...

Re: Panini Football Sticker Swapsies. Anyone?

I'm very glad to see someone else on this thread. I did start collecting this set on a whim, assuming that I'd easily find other people locally to swap with, but it's proved not to be the case. This is what the internet's all about! By the way, for those of you who have the England team group and em...

Let's hope their support band turns up this time. They never seem to have much luck when they head south.

Re: Nina Nastasia

Well, I have been a big fan of Nina ever since I first heard her singing live on Peel. I've bought everything she's ever released, but I'm so disappointed by Outlaster. What I've loved about her records so far, is the fact that half her songs sound unfinished , like just sketches of songs. The liste...

Haha! Good blog Andy. Southampton people may also be interested to know that THE WEDDING PRESENT will be playing the Wedgewood Rooms in Pompey on Saturday 20th November as part of the 'Bizarro' anniversary tour! Thanks for the compliment on the blog. I do it to entertain myself and my three regular...

Re: Panini Football Sticker Swapsies. Anyone?

I've sent Damian and Trev a list of my "wants" - 24 from Damian and 27 from Trev. My swaps list is up to date as of today (linked to in a previous post). Hopefully there's plenty there that you both need.

Re: Panini Football Sticker Swapsies. Anyone?

Excellent! I was fully expecting this to be one of those sad and lonely threads with no replies, sinking slowly to the bottom of the page, all forlorn and puppy-eyed. But no! Damian - I've looked at your list, and I need around 20-25 on there. I'm awaiting some of my real-life contact's swaps either...

Panini Football Sticker Swapsies. Anyone?

Alright. I'm collecting the Panini South Africa 2010 stickers, and I only have one person to swap with at the moment. And, well, my duplicates are mounting up. I've written my current swapsies list here . I intend to keep it up-to-date as and when more appear, or *fingers crossed* disappear! So, any...

Re: Southampton. Famous for...

If I was being really controversial I'd say make it skate instead of scampi! ;) Hmmm, I think I'll ignore that comment (* note to self - take tin of sardines to the Joiners and tip them into Rich's pocket when his back is turned *) In other news, I made a pop quiz. Lou's had a go and done really we...

Re: Southampton. Famous for...

Just don't start a conversation about football, and we'll be alright! I'll bring some scampi to the Joiners next time we're there, just in case.

Re: The Football

Well, I've just put my When Saturday Comes World Cup wallchart up, and it's looking good. I'll be filling it in as it goes along, as I have been at every WC since the '70s. Anyway, I'm collecting the Panini World Cup stickers, and I only have one person to swap with at the moment, so my spares are p...

Mike Parker eh? I work with a Mike Parker, but it can't possibly be the same person - he doesn't like maps. I'll check the book out. As for getting a job at the OS...I took a copy of my fanzine to my interview (interviews with Yeah Yeah Noh, The Very Things, etc), and they seemed to think it was int...

Most excellent! And so close to my birthday, too. I shall buy you a lukewarm Pinot Grigio in a plastic glass as a birthday treat! I'm reading a book about maps. I've just discovered that Southampton is famous for... the Ordnance Survey! Mr Kittens who posts on here works there! Oooh really? I bet t...

Me! Blimey, that's the first time I've managed to successfully log in since February (except I've just done it at work, and I'm not supposed to, so ho-hum. I'll try again at home later) The Primitives were fun. Pity they didn't play Spacehead, but all the other hits were present and correct. The num...

Re: Southampton. Famous for...

Knowing what I'm like after a couple of drinks, I wouldn't have been able to keep quiet about the football, but the Joiners crowd are generally pretty mellow - I don't remember ever having felt personally threatened there (although Beautiful Life's singer made some anti-skate remarks on stage one ti...

Re: Southampton. Famous for...

Anyone else going to THE SOFT PACK at The Joiners tomorrow? I wasn't there, as I was hanging around the car park at Rownhams service station at 11pm last night, waiting for a coach to turn up. I could have done with a few beers as well, although as a Pompey fan, it probably wouldn't have been a goo...

I bought a copy from them on Sunday. 11 tracks, including new versions of Swing Song, Cannibal Song, Devil Of Mine - radically different versions from the EP. It sounds like the Ditty Bops singing sea shanties, on the whole.

Northernlight sent his. It arrived on Christmas Eve. It was a lovely mellow winter mix, which I played a few times over the holidays. It went down well with the cherry brandy and mince pies!

Re: Vivian Girls

They played a storming set last night in Southampton...yep, much better live than on record! I thought Thomas Tantrum might give them a run for their money, but it was a no-contest, with TT being a bit off-form on the night. Iain, I meant to ask Rich to introduce us, but I completely forgot. Next ti...

Re: Southampton. Famous for...

The Moulettes are on the Vivian Girls bill as well as Thomas Tantrum. That's a cracking line-up! Battling it out for February's top gig in Southampton, we so far have Girls, The Soft Pack, The Drums, Chesney Hawkes, Nik Kershaw, and a UB40 tribute band at the Brook. A tribute band of a tribute band?...
