Re: Who's up for a mix exchange?

I have a 40 minute playlist readied for one of my allocated subjects (not saying which one!). The second half will be a special selection of exhilarating tunes, sequenced to thrill.

Ha ha, yes, it was Rupert they all swooned over! Richard wasn't bad looking though, by any means. Good session, by the way - thanks for flagging it up Iain.

Re: Jane Pow archive session being played on 6music this week!!!

Richard from Jane Pow went to a local sixth-form college. I know some of the girls from the college at the time thought he was quite a dish.

Re: Everett True

Only John Peel has introduced me to more of my favourite bands than ET. I have nothing but total respect for him and his taste in music. One of the good guys. That is all.

But where are the metalcore fans going to hang out on Jan 24th? It must be their one night off from Joiners gigs.

Isn't the last Monday in January supposed to be the most miserable day of the year? I know already I'm going to have a beer-induced headache that day, for sure.

Seconded. The world definitely needs the whole of Bogshed's back catalogue re-released and easily available. If not everything, then a well put together best of compilation.

I was browsing Wedding Present videos on Youtube last night, when I came across this: Weddoes at the Wedgewood Rooms! There are 13 videos, covering the whole gig, and good quality too! I was there, and I know at least three other people from this board were there, so I thought some of you might like...

Re: Southampton. Famous for...

No doubt the premises will be snapped up by a lap-dancing or student pub chain. Poor Bournemouth. Yes, I think the Gander and the pub downstairs were bought by one of the chains. One more place for the general population to get cheaply hammered; one less place for the sensitive indiepop fan to go f...

No, it definitely wasn't Animal Magic Tricks! Just who were this mystery Bournemouth indiepop band? I'll have to ask someone with a better memory than mine...

Re: Southampton. Famous for...

The last time I listened to Steve Lamacq on 6Music, he was talking to someone from a Bournemouth band (can't remember who - they were a bit Mega City Four / Midway Still for my tastes). Steve asked him if he could recommend any Bournemouth bands. I closed my eyes, crossed my fingers and thought real...

Right, sorted! Help She Can't Swim were probably from various locales, but met in Southampton. But have since moved to the more happening town of Brighton. You can't really blame them for that. I have added them to the connections for the Southampton UK Last fm group, now that we've established thei...

Iain...I have no musical talent whatsoever. The only time I appeared on stage was in a college battle of the bands contest. Everyone thought we were the comedy band, there for a bit of light relief in between all the serious kids who could play their instruments and sing and stuff (boo!). We were la...

Re: Wild Beasts

You're not alone in your love for them. I couldn't stop listening to Limbo, Panto last year. I'm beginning to have feelings for Two Dancers now. It's the Tiny Tim/Billy McKenzie vocals that seem to put people off, but they've been toned down a lot on the new album. All The King's Men is a catchy tun...

Re: Southampton. Famous for...

I was afraid that would be the answer. My friend wanted me to go and see his band recently. I asked him what they sounded like. He said The Killers. I made my excuses and stayed away. I was hoping there might be a decent indiepop band hiding away somewhere in the city called something like the Lovep...

Hello Southampton. I know at least three people on this thread, so specifically, hello to you! Locally, I like Betika, Thomas Tantrum and the Moulettes. Who else should I be gently rocking out to around these parts? Any suggestions?
