Re: what book are you reading?

Stuart Maconie's Pies and Prejudice.

Highly enjoyable. Really enjoyed Cider with Roadies too a few years ago.

Re: Doctor Who

Catherine Tate revealed on radio 2 on saturday that she's back. Either that or it had already been leaked so they confirmed it. With Wilf back, it was a fair guess she'd be returning. Also heard that a certain other actor is confirmed for the specials. The four knocks being a bit of a clue as to who...

Re: A kipper and a chicken vindaloo to go...the Red Dwarf thread

i didn't think it was particularly great, but i didn't think it was THAT bad neither.

it was worth persevering through the three episodes to see Simon Gregson and Craig Charles in the rovers. Nice Priory joke.

Re: Doctor Who

I had low expectations since it was a special, so I was pleasantly surprised. Far better than the last few christmas ones anyway. Those bloody fly aliens were awful though. I'm far more looking forward to the rest where, presumably, important stuff actually happens. logopolis-esque funereal atmosph...

Re: Doctor Who

I am pulling the stops out here not to be too negative. It was a bit lightweight. Flying buses are all a bit Disney. But it is Easter, so I'll let them off. To summarise, nowhere near as good as Genesis of the Daleks. In fact, nowhere near as good as Resurrection of the Daleks. that was a touch chi...

Re: Doctor Who

i think it has the feel of a christmas special, where its a bit of a standalone proper family entertainment job.

i did get 'chills, multiplying' at the end right enough.

I just watched it on iplayer, twas alright. Bit of a romp, before the chaos begins.

Bleak i believe is the feel for the last three tenement episodes.

Bit like logopolis' funereal atmosphere.

Re: Gentleman's Boutique

burtons have started doing most of their shirts in fitted cuts, and they're usually fairly cheap, cause they have a perma-sale on. i found an absolutely minted M&S tailored dinner jacket yesterday in shelter for £7.49. I now plan on wandering round Glasgow recreating the beastie boys video for Sures...

Re: Eastenders

the end was a touch League of Gentleman series 3 finale. I was waiting for a plastic bag to blow across the screen, and then Archie to wipe off his make up and reveal himself to be Papa Lazarou. My eyes were still a little damp though. And Archie...You don't want to be messing with disgruntled Weeta...

Re: España

Alicante is worth a visit, or Santa Pola just outside it. I worried it would be full of brits, and it is a bit, but its also the traditional holiday destination for the Spanish themselves, who tend to decant there in the summer when it gets crazy hot. Most of the brit tourists are down the road a bi...

Re: The Kinks

Fopp have managed to get in all the kinks albums up to about Percy for £3 a couple of times over the past few months, made it worth picking up all of them. I had most of the sixties ones on vinyl a few years ago, but then foolishly sold all my vinyl when i was skintos. I've only recently managed to ...

Re: Gentleman's Boutique

If I were in an up and coming band I would only wear a kilt to a US media party if I wanted all subsequent coverage of our tour to focus on our supposed patriotic message and compare us to Runrig and the Bay City Rollers. How about a white linen suit? You don't often get a chance to wear one of tho...

Re: Gentleman's Boutique

it would need to be bought by saturday and that involves not using actual money, so its either burtons or find one in the US.

i'm sure a nice ordinary suit would suffice. or i could kilt it.

Its a Vanity Fair cocktail party. Don't want to turn up like a tramp.

Don't actually own a DJ right enough. Maybe i can get one in Burtons cheap. Or just wear a nice suit.
