Re: The Fence Collective

I did! It was magic. The end. I feel a bit sick. Francois was alright - I haven't heard any stuff by the Atlas Mountains before and kind of wish I'd heard them first on record before seeing live as I don't think I quite got it on first listen. HMSG was funny and brilliant, some carols, pretty much e...

Re: Things I am listening to now then

FU:EL has its moments, though! And it's better than a good deal of Bob's solo stuff. It's sort of like a slightly-better-produced version of Warehouse: Songs And Stories , isn't it? Och, I know, you're right. For some reason FU:EL just didn't move me in the way that both Copper Blue and Beaster did...

Re: Things I am listening to now then

Yup, Cathal Coughlan. I don't know Microdisney so well although I do like what I have heard. I really like his voice.

I've listened to this about 20 times today already. Give it a minute!

Re: Things I am listening to now then

Sugar - Copper Blue Been listening to this quite a bit of late as that itunes Genius thing seems quite fond of it and 16 or so years later, it's still an absolute classic record. That album is absolutely glorious, though I've never endeavoured to check out any of their others. Anyone know if they'r...

Re: Music small talk, music big talk

it is apparently happening. the date they wanted at the SECC was unavailable due to some massive conference taking place there so they're just trying to juggle dates. apparently.

Re: Edinburgh

Bennets, just across the road from you, is a good pub, nice Cafe Royal-esque decor and just the right mix of punters (bammers, auld men and regular folks). Bennets is a cracking boozer. My friends used to live right across from it in a weird wee close behind the tenement buildings. That's interesti...

Re: The Fence Collective

Well if you're going to do that, why not go back via Nottingham to the wedding party on Saturday night? I would if I could but I can't. Missingoutface. I've just had a peek at my bank balance and it's not looking healthy. And the train ticket I've already booked is non-refundable. Why does fun stuf...

Re: The Fence Collective

I'm a bit scared of the sleeper though - it's weird hurtling along the tracks when you're lying down. Also there are straps on the bed to keep you tied in, which is just plain frightening. I'm trying to persuade one of my London pals to come along so I can bunk on his floor and come back Saturday. E...

Hm, I'd forgotten about the Concrete & Glass thing and I'm in that London on Friday too. I wonder if I can change my train ticket and get the sleeper home?

Good work on the Bandstand review, Andy!
