Re: Belle and Sebastian

Tons of Jeepster-era stuff when I saw them (setlist here). Looks like the Glastonbury set was way heavier on the new stuff than their headline dates have been.

Re: Belle and Sebastian

That's odd, I don't hear any Jens Lekman in that one at all! I had it down as a Talking Heads homage. It's not my favourite song on the album but with the video projection it worked really well. Cat With The Cream was wonderful too!

Re: Belle and Sebastian

They were superb in Buxton last night. After the last couple of albums I thought I'd lost interest entirely, but apparently all a band needs to do is announce a gig unexpectedly close to me and release their best album in 15+ years (easy, right?) and I can be won back over. Here's the setlist, it's ...

Re: General Chat About Films And That

I went to Derby film festival last weekend and stuffed films into my eyes until they were shrivelled and weird. I've written a full write-up if anyone would like a read, but either way I would like to put a big old recommendation out for a film called Spring, which is a kind of horror / sci-fi take ...

Thank you! It appears our next two songs will be in French. Watch this space :)

Yes! Well, an SK-5, but good spot regardless! I sampled my own voice for the main sound. Thank you, we'll hopefully have some more stuff recorded soon!

Re: The "I just made a song, do you want to listen?" thread.

I have formed a new transatlantic synthpop duo with a girl called Huan-Hua from Wisconsin. Here are the two songs we have done so far!

Re: Random play is the new order: put your collection on shu

I've only heard the first one but it doesn't really do much for me, no. I picked it up because it was described as krautrock-influenced but it doesn't really have that energetic groove that I like about krautrock, it's much more chilled-out (which makes sense, with a member of Portishead involved, I...

Re: Random play is the new order: put your collection on shu

My random playlist app is clearly trying to embarrass me. Two songs by my own band!? You're a slow one, little bear - Ilkae (really pretty electronica) The Cornubia - Beak> (never really got into these guys) The Cure For Evil - Hefner (live version from the Maida Vale album) Sweetness of the Crab - ...

Re: Random play is the new order: put your collection on shu

I made my own randomiser application thing to use at work as I have a hard drive full of every mp3 I've ever downloaded and that's just too much choice, dammit. This is what it selected today: Man or Astroman - Invasion of the Dragonmen Detektivbyran - Home Sweet Home Big Star - Feel Busted - Thunde...

I watched 'Django' last night and now my mental jukebox is just the theme song from 'Django', on repeat, forever.

Re: Records of 2015

Bizarrely, I think my favourite album so far is Sleeping Tapes by Jeff Bridges. Yes, the actor Jeff Bridges. I can't get enough of it. But I'd like to add: Mysteries by Tigercats Sauna by Mount Eerie Good Grief by Grawl!x (ex-My Psychoanalyst singer doing sprawling ambient pop) Home Cinema by Emma K...

Re: Hi-Fi Hardware - Turntables, Valves & Tapes

I bought a second-hand ebay tape deck. I sorted by "closest first", bid on the top one and got it for about £15, and since they were local anyway, the seller dropped it off at my flat. It's a twin-deck one and one of them sounds great, the other is a bit muffled but probably just needs the heads cle...

Re: music to fall asleep to

Has anyone else heard Jeff Bridges' "Sleeping Tapes" album that came out this month? It's "pay what you want", all proceeds to charity. http://www.dreamingwithjeff.com/ I haven't tried falling asleep to it yet, but it's absolutely wonderful, especially if you like gentle surrealism, the voice of Jef...
