Following on from yesterday's quiz I did some quick research and found some live Girls At Our Best. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT6nEb ... w6WF5fnjKA.

(Sorry, I've not used the imbed thing. I tried, but I failed).

1. What song did The Just Joans borrow both words and melody from for their classic ‘What do we do now?’? Sleeper, 'What Do I Do Now' 2. On what label was Belle & Sebastian’s debut album ‘Tigermilk’ originally released in 1996? Electric Honey 3. In 1997 the band Flake Music released the album ‘When...

The Bodines at Alton Towers on Children's ITV. I imagine in 1987 people thought things would be this way for ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJGOAZq2D24 Nice stuff. The Go-Betweens appeared on that show miming to Cut It Out. Sadly I was at somebody else's house when it came on so wasn't able t...

Re: The Garage Appreciation Thread

Garage aficionados could do worse than download The Future Primitives free covers LP, Songs We Taught Ourselves from Bandcamp: http://thefutureprimitives.bandcamp.com/album/songs-we-taught-ourselves . Their two 'proper' LPs are pretty good too. And in lieu of a Surf Music Appreciation thread, have a...

Re: 2015, then...

I've seen him at a festival! The Musicians Of The British Empire played End Of The Road in 2008. His ideas have almost certainly hardened since then, though. I saw him at Reading in, i guess 2002-2003 with The Buff Medways and waaaaaaayy back in 1997 headlining the 'acoustic' stage at the Gillingha...

Re: 2015, then...

I think it would be way cooler if we respected other people's choices and if we don't like 'em rather than get snarky or sneery instead suggested some other bands we'd much rather see... there's no guarantee any of the bands suggested will get picked so no reason folks should get bummed out if, say...

Bit of a long-shot, but can I ask for Devine & Statton? The sun is shining and I'm listening to The Prince of Wales. Them and all those new bands. By this time next year I'm planning to be a bit more up to speed.

Re: I remember taping this: The Peel Sessions thread

I used to record tracks holding a hand held cassette microphone against the speaker of a mono radio. If anybody came in the room or said something you'd hear them through the mic. Then, a friend's parents got a radio cassette recorder and I invited myself round to record Buzzcocks final Peel session...

Re: Indietracks 2014 Photos and Memories

We all had a great time, despite bringing the wrong key for the roof box (turns out I can still sleep anywhere) and getting a flat tyre on the second day. Also spent nearly all the money I brought along for the merch tent on stuff that wasn't from the merch tent (One Dorotea EP apart). Rest of the f...

I'm keen! Chuckled at the title as I passed in the merch tent but was feeling the pull of that ESG* 6% beer in the loco shed.

Me, Mrs Quentin and Paul Smith GRIFFIN! Paul GRIFFIN, not Smith. Sorry. (I noticed his name pop up on some indie-pop site re funding a release a while back) went to see The James Taylor Quartet at the beach-side Concorde Bar in Brighton, on the back of the Blow Up single. Seemed a bit hairy at first...

Re: what book are you reading?

@ShaunBrillDream, @andylong I have reached the dreary shores of Portishead and their fellow Bristol-based bores. Beyond them, the acknowledgements and the blessed index (an index!) begin to twinkle in the distance. And then I have to go back and pick up on the references to unknown tracks I wanted t...

I'm currently reading Bob Stanley's Yeah Yeah Yeah: The Story of Modern Pop. It's a 700+ page book that's made much longer by the tiny footnotes.

The very same. Seeing The Wolfhounds mentioned (Alan Stirner was in both bands) jogged my memory.
