Re: Candy Twist Records

I'm down (or up) to a 5 figure loss after 3 years and about 5 albums and a few other bits. I am impressed with your reach regarding the foreign distribution. I am about to release something by a lofi hero of mine from the 90s who sold 5,000 albums in Europe, mostly France, Holland, Belgium and UK fo...

Re: Why are people putting things out on tape?

Just raising a thread from the dead, I would like to contradict myself on an earlier post here when I said cassette tapes are shit. In the last year, I have decided to give up trying to reach out with digital media and formats, as I find the messages and the music gets lost in a sea of digital compe...

Hull Record Label Day

I am running this as an experiment at Hull Adelphi with about 6 other Hull-based labels on July 14th at 2pm until we get bored. We hope to have 1 act on from each label and we will set tables up with cds, records and merch for each label. I basically took the idea from Independent Record Label Day a...

Re: Anyone done a daytime 6music live session before?

Shameless plug - would anyone help Mammal Hum out and vote for them to be playlisted on Amazing? Here is the link: http://www.amazingradio.co.uk/?show=audition

Voting ends this Sunday I think.

Re: Anyone done a daytime 6music live session before?

So they got the session. Mammal Hum are on tomorrow morning at 11.10. You were right. It is not in a music studio like Maida Vale, rather a room next to the broadcast studio...Drums and guitar amps are frowned upon. No more than 6 people allowed.

Re: New Festival - Hidden Hills

Can you give us a rough idea of where it is? When I was a nipper growing up around there, the only places that got licenses for stuff was around Louth. And those were semi-legal raves. Everywhere else on The Wolds is properly remote! You know what, I can't. I'm not part of the project at all. I tri...

Re: New Festival - Hidden Hills

Ok guys. Sorry to cause offence. I've edited my blog. For those interested in playing, note I am not involved, but the 2 bands from my label are on an acoustic stage in a wooded area and will be fed. I don't think he has more than 4 unkowns booked so far, so if you live localish or are on a festival...

Re: New Festival - Hidden Hills

I lived in Grimsby for the first 18 years of my life, if that's near enough for you, but no - I just despise the usage of the word "chav". Crikey, that's extreme word hatred. I'll remember to sanitize my writing for you in future. Many apologies. Moving on, chaps, there is a band enquiry on their f...

Re: The Smiths/Morrissey

I assume this has been said somewhere in the lat 37 pages.....Morrissey is better at media manipulation than he is music.

Because I think this, I have never bought any of his music.

Re: Another new 6music show that simply isn't alternative en

This is what I would have thought. The BBC makes one huge payment to cover all music broadcasting, I thought? But he may be right, you know. A podcast may fall outside of this as it is not really broadcasting...or is it?!
