Re: texas!

I live in Austin. If anyone needs a couch to crash on during South by send me a pm. Oh and facebook is going to be a big help finding free stuff this year! Look for SXSW related groups on Facebook. Tons of good info there and also at showlistaustin.com. So far all all that's caught my eye: Grass Wid...

Re: Vivian Girls

I've heard a few songs here and there, and thought they were alright. Never really provoked me to listen to more. Till I saw they were playing an in store down the street from my place. They played for about 45 minutes, and I left incredibly turned off. It was a tambourine and two guitars with the s...

I am making a playlist of Halloween songs. I need songs about ghosts, Halloween, blood, vamps, the moon, the dead, zombies, you name it. Help!

Re: The Clientele

Alasdair is such a nice guy. He is very approachable. I had just run out of cigarettes hanging out before the show and I approached him and asked for a smoke. I didn't realize he was rolling and offered to roll me one. So, we talked for a good 15 minutes before the show and smoked a cigarette. Good ...

... And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead

I saw these guys last Saturday night, it was an incredible show. They played with the original lineup and played most of all the good hits and some new ones that hold their own. They are super energetic and switch up the instruments a lot. Here are a few videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-v90j...

Re: SXSW '09

Yeah that's what I'm talking about. Bands that might not particularly want to or be able to get into the official shows can play day shows and still have a turnout. SXSW officially for me is nothing, it's all about the day shows. I usually do not even buy a pass to go to shows because they are going...

SXSW '09!

If I were to set up an unofficial day show during SXSW week would any bands be interested? It's such an eclectic week of music, but there are really no exclusively indie pop shows or parties. I would love to get something going and if I start now I could do a ton of promotion. Austin is such a conde...

Re: magnolia electric co.

Absobloodylutely. I think this thread should double as a "they have released exactly enough" thread - i'm sure eventually i will not be so excited at each new as-winter-follows-fall magnolia release, but this is fantastic exciting news to me after hitting the road this fall, magnolia electric co. w...

Re: Black Affair

It is quite a bit more upbeat than King Biscuit Time...I am really liking this stuff right now too. I am glad all I had heard of Beta Band remnants were The Aliens, which I did not really appeal to me. I might need to check into them again...

So, Steve Mason of The Beta Band has a disco electro clash album called Pleasure Pressure out from his new thing Black Affair...

It is so great. Campy at spots, fun, and dancey... I am enjoying it a lot
