Re: Velvet Underground

Liking The Velvet Underground gets more difficult by the year. I'm starting to understand how classical music enthusiasts feel about liking the music of Wagner. That is a very good similie / comparison type thing. I think Sweet Jane is my favourite Velvets song, but I prefer the Mott the Hoople cov...

Re: Bristol

I'm still in Bristol! I've not been to the Lanes, though I see they often have both live bands and DJ nites. I've looked in the window as I've passed quite often and it also seems to be an old bowling alley, vintage shop and food place. Really should go in next time. Sylvie, the Stag and Hounds has ...

Re: The Football

He's such a shady character. I wish someone at least vaguely reputable would take us over... If the Riddler gets away with his latest one I think he is not involved with any club currently: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/06/cardiff-chairman-peter-ridsdale-court-fraud I've not heard a w...

And he's still a cock as far as I'm concerned. A massive cock. edit - think that the "cock" was directed at Redknapp not Bellamy, I'm not sure what 'arry has done for war torn Sierra Leone though. It's Bono syndrome - eminantly hateable but by any measure has saved more lives and done more concrete...

Re: The Football

To be fair to him I don't think Bellamy himself has explicitly said he has always supported Cardiff, just that he wants to play for his hometown club.
Interesting article on Bellamy in the Guardian (from last year)

Re: The Football

Redknapp said of the prospect of Bellamy joining Cardiff: "Good luck to Cardiff but it would be a waste of an outstanding player. "He should stay in the Premier League for sure." Redknapp, who lost out to City for Bellamy's signature 18 months ago, added: "He's a Premier League player - a top Premi...

I saw them this year and they were amazing! I suspect they may leave out the Argent numbers from their ATP set though.

Re: Okkervil River

I'd not heard of them at all until I saw them by chance at atp a few years ago, and thought they were great. I went out and bought the Black Sheep Boy album and the one after, both are very solid with a few very good songs, but they were one of those bands that sound better live to me.
