Re: clothes

No. I like cardigans. They're comfortable, and I suppose I look good in them. (Insofar as my appearance is capable of being described as such.) I just live in constant terror of being exposed as a fraud, is all. Not that I am in any particularly meaningful sense a fraud. But wouldn't it be awful if ...

Re: clothes

Yeah, I'm being sillly. I guess I didn't know that cardigans are okay, so now I do, so I don't need to worry about not knowing now.

Re: Cub

The video for "Nicolas Bragg" is weird: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUCdJHP_6Bg Why is Neko Case playing bass in this song? I'm pretty sure she wasn't even in the band when it was recorded... That much having been said, the drum fill at 1:10 is one of my favorite moments in music. In music. This,...

Re: Cub

Ah, I'd probably suggest Come Out, Come Out. Betti-Cola is a lot of fun, but so... fragmented.

Not that Come Out, Come Out is the most cohesive album. But I do feel like it fits together in a really interesting way...

Re: clothes

Here's something of a dilemma. My girlfriend is really insistent that I wear cardigans. On one level, I don't mind -- I suppose I need to wear something over my shirts, and cardigans are relatively comfortable. (Also, she has bought me like three cardigans. So I suppose I have to wear them.) And I w...

Re: Cars Can Be Nice

Oh, cars! I am torn between finally getting a car, which I really kind of desperately need, and making it to the age of 30 without one. I don't know why 30 is a relevant number here... maybe it just sounds better? "I got my first car at the age of 29" doesn't have quite the same ring to it. At the s...

Re: Music small talk, music big talk

So, My Favorite... they sound a lot like a less intense The Organ, don't they? Well, minus the, you know, organ . Or The Organ sound like them, really, chronologically. Close enough. The bands' melodic sense and production styles are similar, is what I am saying. (In related news, "My Favorite" and ...

Re: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

"Say No to Love," especially the guitars, sounds more Field Mice-esque than any recent music I can think of offhand. (And this is from a band that was obviously drawing a lot of influence from the Field Mice -- in a good way, don't get me wrong -- even on the first album. Well, when they weren't try...

But that may be neither here nor there.
