Re: Doctor Who

Watched it for the second time last night. Really enjoyed it. It felt thoroughly relentless once it got going, and fairly dark.

The Time Lord Victorious was a bit grim. Didn't like him very much.

Re: Bass Guitars

fireglo 4003 is what all the best bass players use, nice one johnny. I got a new extra long strap in germany. Feels amazing. hooky once quoted paul simenon in an interview saying, "never wear your bass above the bollocks" i don't really want to look like i'm wrestling an alligator onstage, but low s...

Re: Bass Guitars

I ended up getting an Epiphone Jack Casady in the end. Tried one in Sound Control and absolutely fell in love with it. It's got such a great tone and the neck is just the nicest of all the basses I've ever played. Plus I just love semi-acoustic bodies. We're even working on a tune where I get to ma...

Re: A thread about putting on DIY gigs

I found out about it when I signed up to Wegottickets so I've known for a while this was coming. I'm just very nervous about having that much cash on me. Hopefully the venue will have a safe and let me use it for the duration of the gig. http://b0.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/00574/08/49/574019480_s.jp...

Re: Bass Guitars

What's this restringing business? Have they broken? What flatwounds are you using Gav? (I feel like asking every Rickogeek question, but there isn't really much that changes. erm, how heavy is it?). Anyway, I tried some flats once, but I just bought some cheap no-brands on ebay and one of the strin...

Re: Bass Guitars

So i finally got my hands on my long dreamed of perfect bass. Fireglo Rickenbacker. Its a 1993 4003, and it sounds incredible and feels absolutetly perfect to play. Swapped out the roundwounds for flatwounds and got it a set up. Plays just lovely. I can't believe its taken so long to acquire one, bu...

Re: Kitchen Q&A (or, Ask Anorak about cooking and stuff)

do most people here cook with extra virgin olive oil? we do, but i've heard that it's better for salads and flavouring etc. instead of for cooking, and that you should be cooking with any bog-standard oil/olive oil. basically that it's too good to be used to cook with! We use it all the time and so...

Re: Kitchen Q&A (or, Ask Anorak about cooking and stuff)

i think, even from a cost point of view, you're as well getting ordinary olive oil for cooking with. i tend to buy decent stuff when its on offer, cause you can usually find it on deals regularly, and use it for making nice dinners, and have some sunflower oil in reserve if i just want to make scram...
