Re: where do you buy your records?

I really like searching for a long time to try and find good stuff in record stores. So far, I've had the best luck at: Jackpot Records, Portland OR I've found Pastels 7"s here. And a bunch of other stuff. Music Millenium, Portland OR A littler trickier here, but I've found some Crabs and a Plastic ...

Is anyone planning on going to SXSW this year?

I know there's a K Records showcase that I'm planning on going to, but does anyone know of anything else that looks particularly savory?

Re: clothes

LuLu's ships to the UK.. they have some cool stuff.. I don't know if the prices are better if you're paying in pounds. But, yeah. Here's a couple that might work: http://www.lulus.com/products/basic-instinct-dress-by-theme/19326.html http://www.lulus.com/products/wrap-it-up-dress/17566.html Good luck!

Re: clothes

I don't suppose anyone has seen any nice dressy-up pink dresses on the high street lately? For some reason, there seems to be a distinct lack of pale pink dresses, suitable for bridesmaids. And what is it with all bridesmaids dresses being strapless these days? I'm looking for something '50s style,...

Pirate Radio??

Anyone have any experience with starting up a radio station? Like, an illegal one?

Advice? How-to? Experiences with such activities?

I'm thinking about trying to start one up, but I'm not exactly sure how.

Love it!

I'm so glad they're playing in Olympia, too. We need to get that whole twee scene up and running again.

Re: Milky Wimpshake

Anyone have any idea when their new album is coming out? I heard some tracks from it on Phoning it In and they're pretty great. I guess it was supposed to be out already, but I'm pretty sure it's not.

News?

Re: Your favourite cover versions...

Well, I've been trying to figure out that Indian Summer thing still. I really thought it might be R.E.M. there for a second, but it definitely wasn't. Oh well. I'll figure it out someday. I love Cub's cover of Cast a Shadow. Ah man! Beat Happening covers are the best. Also I'm really impressed with ...

Re: Your favourite cover versions...

Today I heard a cover of Indian Summer while I was in this café, and I really liked it, but I didn't know who did it? Any ideas? Otherwise, I too really really like Milky Wimpshake's "True Love/Youth" and I like The Pastels doing "Speeding Motorcycle." Basically any Daniel Johnston cover can win my ...

Re: Seattle Area Popkids

Ah, this topic hasn't been talked about for a while. But now I'm reading it. Olympia has just set up the Olympia All Ages Project, which is really cool if you're under 21. ( http://www.olympiaallages.com ) There's not that much indie pop, but every now and then some cool stuff goes on. Calvin Johnso...

I just finished this short story collection by Wells Tower called "Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned."
It's really good!
I don't know if there are any McSweeney's fans here, but a few of them were published in McSweeney's Quarterly Concern. So obviously.. they're amazing.
